Faades Will Remind You of Rehoboth by Lee Mills
Faades are making appearances on virtually every street corner near youand perhaps at most of the bars where you hang outbut if you are looking for Faades, the event, head over to the Bellmoor Inn on Sunday afternoon, June 21st from 36 p.m. to enjoy some wine, light refreshments and meet the artists. Rehoboth Beach Main Street and the Bellmoor Inn partner in producing this one day exhibition to benefit the programming Main Street sponsors throughout the yearincluding, you guessed it, its sign and faade grants, the Cottage and Town awards, the fireworks on the 4thall those pretty pictures we enjoy year-round. This year Faades is designed to hold a calendar position for the popular Rehoboth Beach Paint Out which is on sabbatical during the economic downturn. This exhibition will provide a wonderful and varied display of art works by some of the area's most well-known artists, whose subjects will be the pretty face Rehoboth Beach puts on for its residents and visitors alike. You'll be dazzled by a panoramic view of the Rehoboth fireworks by Paul Rendel. LGBT Family Group Set to Begin Looking to connect with other LGBT families in the community, to socialize and build a support network? Auto Gallery Cleans Up for CAMP During the winter months of December and January, Bryan Hecksher and Jason Rock of Auto Gallery in Lewes made a pledge to donate $20 to CAMP for every vehicle they detailed. As a result of their efforts, they were able to raise $400 for the CAMP building fund. Bryan and Jason have decided to repeat this offer during the month of July. For every vehicle, boat, or RV detail completed, Auto Gallery will make a $20 donation to CAMP Rehoboth. Bring in your dirty vehicle and they'll make it showroom new. Judy Gold On Stage In the First State 25 Questions For A Jewish Mother is Emmy-Award winning actress and comedienne Judy Gold's uproarious journey about becoming a parent, while learning to be a daughter to a nagging Jewish mother of her own. Gold embarked on a five-year journey across the United States, interviewing over 50 Jewish women of different ages, ethnicities, and occupations. The end result is a moving and humorous portrait of what makes a Jewish mother, a Jewish mother. Judy Gold will be performing at the Siegel JCC in North Wilmington on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 and at the Theater of the Arts in Rehoboth Beach on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 and Thursday, August 6, 2009. Ticket prices start at $25. For more information, call 302-478-5660. Bruce Vilanch to Play CAMP Benefit In Hollywood, the battle cry is "Get Bruce!" if you want to laugh. And CAMP Rehoboth's got him! If you don't know who Bruce Vilanch is, you will soon. And if you do know who he is you're probably imagining him at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center making people laugh until they cry and beg for mercy. With Rehoboth Beach quickly becoming a hot stop on the comedy superstar circuit, it's just one hilarious leap from Joan Rivers knocking them dead to Bruce Vilanch tearing the house down. Get set for a night of laughter on Saturday, August 15 with the dynamic, hilarious and positively brilliant comic Bruce Vilanch at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center in a benefit performance for CAMP Rehoboth. Vilanch, who admits to being "exciting and glamorous," was once the quickest wit on Hollywood Squares. On Broadway he's played Edna Turnblad in the musical Hairspray and is known as the best and most outrageous comedy writer in the business. He's written for Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg, Lily Tomlin, Billy Crystal and other superstars, plus, he's known as the magician in the wingsstanding backstage at award shows (Oscars, Tonys, Emmys), watching events unfold and writing hilarious lines that sound like instant ad libs from the hosts. The Latecomer Book Party at CAMP Fay Jacobs and A&M Books celebrated the publication of the 35th Anniversary Edition of The Latecomer by the late Anyda Marchant who wrote under the pen name of Sarah Aldridge. Marchant, and her partner Muriel Crawford, played host each week to friends known as the "people on the porch." Blue Moon Hosts Amazing Race The fabulous Miss Richfield, 1981 is host for the first annual Blue Moon Amazing Race on Saturday, June 20 from 6-8 p.m. Teams of four will compete for a first prize of $500 using a camera to document their trip in and around Rehoboth Beach.
