As LETTERS hits the street this glorious fall weekend, Rehoboths famous Jazz Festival has already begun, with major headline artists and dozens of musical events all over town through Sunday, October 19. The streets will literally be filled with the sound of music, but with so much to choose from, where to begin?
Heres a timeline sampling of some of the many ways for you to unwind on this magical music-filled weekend. Check out the Jazz Joint at 236 Rehoboth Avenue for more details and jazzy merchandise.
FRIDAY - OCT 17
8:00 pm
The Rehoboth Convention Center is the site of the Festivals first major event, featuring legendary two-time Grammy Award winning guitarist Stanley Jordan and one of todays hottest jazz musicians, saxophonist Boney James ($25). Dont have tickets for this sold-out event? Dont despair, there are many other acts going on all night long.
9:00 pm
Tim Eyermann and E Factor are performing at Celsius, Bruce Chappelle is playing at Fusion, and The Meteors Blues Band is at the Crab Barn.
Scott Hendrichsen Quartet at Club Potpourri until12:30.
Vocalist Libby York and her Trio entertain at the Blue Moon,
The John G. Coley Quartet plays at Iguana Grill, and
The Nick Wayne Trio opens at Savannahs.
Willie and Lobo make their first Delaware appearance at Sydneys Blues and Jazz Restaurant. A spirited and seductive sound of gypsy flamenco, Middle Eastern, jazz, Cajun, Tex-Mex, tango, southern rock, and bluegrass into one exotic brew.

Kate and CJ open at Plumb Loco.
10:00 pm
The always popular Red Letter Day perform at Cloud 9.
Theres a long day of jazz on Saturday, and even more on Sunday, so dont stay out playing too late, because we start early tomorrow!
SATURDAY - OCT 18
11:00 am
The Rehoboth Boardwalk Bandstand is the site of the first event of the day, a FREE three-hour concert featuring Mike Kwas and the Larry "Scotty" Scott All- Star Band. Kwas has performed with such greats as Maynard Ferguson and Grover Washington Jr. Keyboardist "Scotty" Scott, the first Rehoboth Jazz Grand Marshall, will perform with artists from Delaware.
12:00 noon
Sydneys features a jazz lunch with Extremity featuring Perky Scott. These five talented musicians present an eclectic mix of jazz fusion and standards, with drums, horns, bass, violin and vocals.
1:00 pm
Check out Nassau Gallery, where you can preview the Jazz Art of Robert Hoffman and enjoy the sounds of Fred Hughes on keyboards while sipping champagne and sampling tasty hors doevres.
4:00 pm
Club Potpourri features a Happy Hour with jazz pianist Pat Tobin, until 8:00 pm.
5:00 pm
More jazz happy hour at Sydneys with Barry Sames on keyboards and Chuck Burney on guitar and vocals.
6:00 pm
Steve Rudolph performs at Manos.
7:00 pm
The night gets started in earnest: well find the Craig Graham Trio at Chez La Mer, Eclypse featuring Peggy Raley at the Dinner Bell Inn, and Rajneesh at Planet X.
8:00 pm
Music explodes across town with Boys Night Out at Cultured Pearl, Tim Eyermann and E Factor at Celsius, Denise and Da Nephews at Crab Barn, jazz acoustic guitarist Van Williamson at Dream Cafe (for his 5th year!), and Bruce Chappelle at Fusion.

David Cipse and Friends, with Tony Granberry, perform at Club Potpourri until 12:30.
9:00 pm
If youre lucky enough to have tickets ($25), the fabulous double-Grammy Award Winner Diane Schuur performs at the Convention Center. If not, check out vocalist Libby York and her Trio at the Blue Moon, the Nick Wayne Trio at Savannahs, or the John G. Coley Quartet featuring Michelle Kornegay. At 9:00 and 11:30, Willie and Lobo return to Sydneys.

Head to the dreamy Dream Cafe for fabulous light fare for the sounds of local jazz legend Scotty on keyboards till noon.

Jazz Brunch at the Dinner Bell, with a 2-piece jazz combo.

Libby York and her Trio finally leave the Blue Moon and head to the Back Porch Cafe. At Sydneys, Maiesha Rashad and Lavendar Rain, a quartet of talented women, will take you on a musical journey from the 40s to the present, from Sarah Vaughnn to Anita Baker, Phyllis Hyman and Sade, plus some great original selections of their own.
1:00 pm
Nassau Gallery will once again present their champagne reception for jazz artist Robert Hoffman, to the sounds of Fred Hughes. This goes until 4:00 pm.
2:00 pm
At the Bay Centers Rusty Rudder, check out trumpeter Rick Braun and Windham Hill artist Andy Narell, and the sounds of his great steel pan percussion. ($25)
4:00 pm
Sydneys will host the "Scotty" Scholarship Jam hosted by Tim Eyermann, a gathering of musicians whose purpose is to raise funds to support and mentor young music students in Delaware. A minimum donation of $3.00 is requested.
7:00 pm
The Jeff Irwin Group hosts the Grand Finale Jam at Club Potpourri, until 11:00.
9:00 pm
The John Coley Quartet, featuring Michelle Kornegay, will perform at Iguana Grill.
