Art League Hosts Annual Members' Fine Art Exhibit |
Rehoboth Art Leagues Members Fine Art Exhibit is a showcase of the best fine art works the League has to offer.
Approximately 200 artists are participating in the exhibit this year. The Members Fine Art show is a tradition that dates back to the earliest years of the League. This years featured artist for the exhibit is Laura Hickman, and the judge is James Lecky, the first director of the newly formed Delaware College of Art and Design. A special group of volunteers is also helping out again this year. "The League owes special thanks to Dolores and Hugh Andrew, Joanne DeFiore, and Barbara Petterson for hanging the show. Each year we face the challenge of fitting all of the works in, but the help of volunteers makes it all work," says Nancy OBrien, League Director. The Members Fine Art Exhibit fills the Corkran and Tubbs Galleries throughout the end of August. Also on display during July and August are two other exhibits. One, a show of paintings and sculpture by Victor Letonoff, Sr., and Victor Letonoff, Jr. This father and son exhibit features the lyrical watercolor paintings of Victor Letonoff, Sr. and the powerful cast bronze sculpture of Victor Letonoff, Jr. The Letonoffs work will be featured in the Ventures Gallery. In the Homestead will be the captivating paintings of Junchul Kim. Kim, a native of Korea, paints in a very realistic style, most often portraits featuring women or haunting landscapes. The Members Fine Art Exhibit, the exhibit of the work of the Letonoffs, and the Junchul Kim exhibits open with a reception July 17 from 5-7 p.m. and continues through August 31. The opening and the exhibit are free and open to the public. Those who are interested can view the exhibit during the Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft Exhibit August 8, 9, 15, and 16. The Rehoboth Art League is located on Dodds Lane in Henlopen Acres. |
