New Gold Leaf Collages At Blue Moon |
Rehoboth artist Lee Wayne Mills will exhibit recent mixed-media collages at the Blue Moon Restaurant, 35 Baltimore Avenue, from October 1-31, 2002. A reception to meet the artist is scheduled for Saturday, October 5, from 2-4 p.m.
Mills, who is the Gallery Associate at the Rehoboth Art League, has titled his exhibition Putting It Together to reflect his use of mixed-media collage in the construction of his works on paper and linen. An earlier work in the series captured the Mrs. Robert W. McClellan Memorial Award in the Members' 64th Annual Fine Art Exhibition at the Rehoboth Art League in July 2002. Art critic Laura King noted "Mills transcended the geometric limitations of his earlier collage work to produce something close to three-dimensional and to expose such feeling as stark loneliness, intimacy, vulnerability on canvas." She also says "Mills' ability to calculate the positioning of assorted elements is the glue that holds his collages together." A portion of sales will go to The CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Project. |
