Wine, Women and Song at Nassau Vineyards Ladies 2000 will once again present Wine Women and Song at the Nassau Valley Winery on all three Summer holiday weekends: Memorial Day, Sunday May 28; Independence Day, Saturday, July 1; and Labor Day, Sunday September 3. Teaming up with Peggy Raley of the Nassau Winery, we put together one of the biggest and best events in the Rehoboth area. It's no small task! Literally everything has to be brought on to the property and set up over a period of days. It takes a village, so to speak, to prepare for this event, and get ready for the throngs of women to attend. The beautiful Nassau Winery is just off the main highway in Lewes, Delaware. Party in a beautifully wooded and private environment surrounded by over 1000 women. It's an amazing sight to behold! The doors open at 5 p.m. and the party will go until 11 p.m. Enjoy drinks served by local women bartenders and great food by Fat Jack's Barbeque. There's plenty of free parking, but car-pooling (with a designated driver) is encouraged. For more information, check out www.ladies2000.com. Artists Selected for Inaugural Rehoboth Beach Paint Out Thirty artists, both local and out of state, are planning to show up with canvas, paint and a love of painting outdoors for the Inaugural Rehoboth Beach Paint Out2006 to take place June 23-25. The goal of painting en plein air (in the open air) is to capture the light and colors particular to a certain place. Plein Air artists look for a "different approach" to local scenes and Rehoboth Beach will be a feast for the artists, onlookers who will enjoy watching the artists at work, and art lovers who would like to purchase original art inspired by Rehoboth Beach landmarks. The artists, who have been juried into this Paint-Out hail from nearby, and from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. The Paint Out is a joint project of the Rehoboth Art League and Rehoboth Beach Main Street, repeating the artistic collaboration the two organizations began with the very successful Dolphin Projects in 2003 and 2005. Now, the two non-profits are hosting the Paint-Out to help start a tradition here in Rehoboth, support area artists and bring art lovers downtown for a spectacular weekend of art appreciation, along with the appreciation of our local landscape, buildings and sights. The Inaugural Rehoboth Beach Paint Out-2006! (sponsored by Community Bank Delaware) will be the first organized, weekend long PAINT OUT in the entire state of Delaware. Organized Paint-Outs are a growing trend nationwide, with thousands of artists participating in juried plein air shows all over the country. Now, Rehoboth Beach is joining the plein air circuit to attract the numerous artists and wonderful fans of plein air painting. The Rehoboth Beach Paint Out-2006 will kick off Friday, June 23 when the artists spread out around downtown Rehoboth to set up their easels and capture our hometown on canvas. The artists will paint within the boundaries of Rehoboth Beach, choosing the area that suits them best, to incorporate the light and feelings of the setting. Each painter will submit two finished pieces by Sunday, with Bruce Garrity, an instructor at Rutgers University determining the prize winners. The winning artist will receive $1,000; second place will receive $750 and third place will receive $500. There will be an honorable mention category as well. To cap the weekend, a reception, exhibit and sale of the artwork, open to the public, will be held from 4-9pm at downtown Rehoboth's Bellmoor Inn on Christian Street. Refreshments will be served and the winners will be announced. Tickets for the reception are $20 per person and must be reserved by calling 302-227-8408. The money raised through the sale will benefit the Rehoboth Art League and Rehoboth Beach Main Street. "Rehoboth Beach was made for a PAINT OUT," says Jacobs, "and I expect this will kick off a new downtown tradition." For more information, call the Rehoboth Art League at 302-227-8408.
