Connect We are really excited! Have you seen the November/ December copy of Delaware Beach Life? It features a lengthy article on CAMP Rehoboth entitled, "Building Bridges: For 16 years CAMP Rehoboth has fostered understanding and tolerance." The author of the article, Patricia Rivera, interviewed people both here at CAMP Rehoboth and in the community to get a well-rounded picture of the organization and its impact on the Rehoboth Beach community. The article contains quotes from Sundance volunteers, leaders of the Rehoboth Beach Library, the YMCA, the Beebe Medical Foundation and Sussex County AIDS Council. From their own perspective, they all attested to the fact that CAMP Rehoboth makes a real difference in the tone, ambiance and function of the overall Rehoboth Beach community. Working at CAMP Rehoboth gives me the advantage of knowing many of the contributions CAMP makes to the community here in Rehoboth and beyond. Unfortunately, it allows me to take some of our contributions for granted. (I can fall prey to the "just another day at the office" syndrome.) The article was a great reminder of the many ways we have an impact on Rehoboth Beach. In reading the article, I began thinking about the people, not just the organizations, who benefit from CAMP Rehoboth's participation. For example, sick and dying people are treated as a result of the Beebe Medical Foundation's funding; seniors and the disabled needing food are better nourished because Meal on Wheels arrives; children find belonging and creative outlets through YMCA programs and scholarships; Sussex Countians living with HIV/AIDS receive financial assistance, groceries and transportation to health care appointments through Sussex County AIDS Council; and Rehoboth Beach families will find more to read on the shelves of the Rehoboth Beach Library. We don't take credit for benefiting all of these people, just for doing our part. And we don't say that we, the staff, can accept the glory. In fact, we all know that whatever CAMP Rehoboth contributes to the community is done in large part by a dedicated, caring and enthusiastic group of volunteers. To each of you who answer the call, show up, and roll up your sleeves whenever CAMP Rehoboth asks, please accept our appreciation. You make us look good and you make a difference in Rehoboth Beach. Founders' Circle I don't want to lose sight of the many members of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center's Founders' Circle who continue to make a contribution to CAMP through the Capital Campaign. While the Founders' Circle is closed to new memberships, many members have chosen to add to or upgrade their own memberships. The result is that our current totals stand at $1,298,576.60 pledged with $960,859.80 of those pledges being fulfilled. Thank you one and all. The board of directors and the staff appreciate all that you do. Pledge Form available in PDF format HERE Beth Fitton is Development Director at CAMP Rehoboth.
