June Is Bustin' Out All Over
This month finds more and more wonderful arts-related events in our area. All venues are located in Rehoboth Beach unless otherwise noted. MUSIC All Saints' Episcopal Church (18 Olive Ave; rehoparishmusic@aol.com) will present a series of Thursday organ recitals, beginning June 25 through August 13 at 12:15 p.m. Bach on the Boardwalk features organists Craig Campbell (who has concertized widely on the east coast and in Europe over the past two years) as well as George Bayley, Thomas Tibbetts and Betsey Von Dreele. Milton Theatre (110 Union Street in Milton; 302-684-3400; mdc@snip.net; miltontheatre.org) Appearing June 6: Roslyn Kind In Concert. Besides the obvious (she is Barbra Streisand's younger sister) Roslyn Kind is a dynamic, multi-talented entertainer who has forged a successful career in all facets of entertainment, from critically-acclaimed recordings to sold-out performances on Broadway and in top concert venues and nightclubs the world over. June 20: In TributeAn Evening of Jazz with Larzine Talley performing the music of Josephine Baker, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Nancy Wilson, Dinah Washington, among others. THEATRE Clear Space Productions (in residence at Cape Henlopen High School, 1250 Kings Highway in Lewes; 302-644-3810; ClearSpaceProductions.org) Sussex County's only year-round, professional theatre company will present the family classic Oliver! July 23-26 at Epworth United Methodist Church on Holland Glade Rd. Cape Henlopen High won't open their new building until September, so Clear Space is "on the road" for the summer and tours to Bayside (Fenwick Island) and the Schwartz Center (Dover). Rose Colored Glasses Theatre (302-465-8783; More information on Facebook) A new theatre company in our area presents Jason Robert Brown's Songs For A New Worlda fascinating little sung-through show you should see. ART GALLERIES AerieArt Gallery (45 1/2 Lake Ave. and 70 Rehoboth Ave. in First St. Station; 302-227-5376; rehoboth.com/aerieart) specializes in fine original paintings from the 19th and early 20th centuries, and offerings by local artists including Denise Dumont, Victor Letonoff, Lesley McCaskill and Karin Snoots. Currently featuring Delmarva Peninsula Panoramas at the Lake Avenue galleryoriginal paintings by New York artist Larry Horowitz, who will be present on Sunday, June 14 from 4-7 p.m. for a public wine and cheese reception. The Rehoboth Avenue gallery continues with Recurrent Dreams: The Paintings of Edward Grant (1907-1998). Her application of paint delivered by palette knife creates intense drama and interest in true Impressionistic form. His use of color is light-hearted and evokes a certain desire to want to be where he's painting.
