Colors of Fall
As fall descends on the area, we find it brings not only a calm and beauty to our land, but also a cornucopia of arts-related events. Enjoy the Jazz and Film Festivals, but make sure you add other ingredients to your lives as well! All locations are Rehoboth Beach, unless otherwise noted.

AerieArt Gallery* (45 Lake Avenue and 70 Rehoboth Avenue in First St. Station; 302-227-5376; rehoboth.com/ aerieart) featuring Gems in the Gallery Collection. Specializing in fine original paintings from the 19th and early 20th Centuries, along with offerings by local artists including Jinchul Kim, Paul Flexner, Howard Schroeder, Ethel Leach, Edward Grant, Victor Letonoff, Charles Allmond, Karin Snoots, Lesley McCaskill, Denise Dumont, Mollie Vardell, Adrienne Kralick, and Martha Spak.
Amandeline Gallery* (403 Rehoboth Avenue; 302-226-0330; amandelinegallery.com) presents the quirky, whimsical work of local artist Cassie Hillis-Walker. Her slightly dark sense of humor shines through her work, coinciding perfectly with the essence of Halloween. Also an acclaimed portrait artist, Cassie paints her subjects in a non-traditional, fresh manner that truly captures the spirit and movement of the individual.
BASE (Baltimore Avenue Studios En Masse; 20 Rehoboth Avenue; 302-227-7303; info@baseartists.com) features some of the regions top visual artists: Michelle Aquilino, Sherry Biele, Tracy Bollinger, Mary Gaffney, Kim Klabe, Aina Nergaard-Nammack, Patti Shreeve, Jeffrey Todd Moore, Jack Wiberg, and June Wright.
Coastal Frameshop and Gallery (4284-B Highway One; 302-227-8704; coastalframeshopandgallery.com)
Detail Gallery* (54 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-8170; shopdetail.com) highlights the work of Washington-based mixed media photographer JS Adams. His work layers images that relay encrypted stories with an oblique vocabulary. Also featuring fun and fabulous Mirabelle holiday cards for 2009.
Gallery 50* (50-A Wilmington Avenue; 302-227-2050; 50contemporaryart.com) presents Here and Not Here, works by Lewes-based artist, Constance Costigan, including 14 in layered lead pencil. Hand-painted toned silver gelatin photographs by award-winning Brandywine, Penn. artist Lisa Tyson Ennis, as well as nature-based mixed media works by Washington DC artist, Betsy Damos will be displayed through November 5. After that, the gallery will showcase revolving group shows by all represented artists, with openings during the Second Saturday Mosaic art walks.

MUSIC
Coastal Concerts (in residence at Bethel UMC Hall; Fourth and Market Streets in Lewes; 888-212-6458; coastalconcerts.org) presents their first concert of the 2009-2010 season on Saturday, October 24 at 8 p.m. with four members of Boston-based Walden Chamber Players playing Mozart, Britten, Darius Milhaud, and more. Tickets: $20. The Colorado Quartet, an internationally acclaimed string quartet of four women, plays a program of Haydn, Mendelssohn, and Brahms on Saturday, November 21 at 8 p.m. Free admission for youth aged 10-18.
