Letters to Letters
Our Cape Henlopen school district is in big trouble, with low achieving schools, discipline problems, scandals and terrible negative publicity. Why do I care? Because unless we improve the schools, our whole community will suffer and go downhill fast. To thrive, we must attract the best doctors, nurses, teachers and other professionals to our area. With our school system in its current condition we cannot. And its getting worse. This affects us all.
On May 11, I am voting for Dr. Roni Posner for School Board. I have known Roni a long time and I know she is a brilliant educator and get-things-done administrator. Not only does she know how to improve schools, but she is well known for stunning results.
Make the effort to vote on May 11. Anybody with a Delaware driver’s license who lives in the school district can vote. I urge you to vote for Dr. Posner on May 11. It really is critical for every one of us here in the area, whether we have children in the schools or not.

Each summer the West Rehoboth Children and Youth Program (WRCYP) provides six activity-filled weeks for approximately 35 students from kindergarten through middle school, ages 5-15. The WRCYP is funded by the Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches and by donations from interested citizens. Local restaurants provide lunches for the children who are used to receiving free lunches in school.
Would you consider helping an underprivileged child attend the WRCYP this summer? A donation of $75 will sponsor a child for a week in the summer program. Donations allow the program to provide field trips, special reading help and other extras impossible without additional support. If you can help with a donation sponsoring a child or two this summer, please write a check payable to WRCYP of West Side New Beginnings. Mail the donation to: WRCYP, 19801 Norwood Street, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971. Donations will be accepted through June 10. The program begins June 15 and contributions are tax deductible.

To CAMP and the 2010 Women’s FEST Committee…congrats on an outstanding event and a job well done! The town was full of new faces, the businesses were packed, and the entertainment was awesome! It definitely showed the positive outcome of change and lots of hard work.
As a sponsor, I have heard nothing but positive buzz on the streets. I was delighted with all aspects of the event, and look forward to 2011. You have my personal support however you need it next year.
Bravo to you all!

Congratulations to Fay Jacobs and the entire team for putting together a fabulous program for the 2010 Women's FEST! Breakfast by Nourish was a delicious way to start the day on Saturday —what a wonderful (and healthful!) selection! The Feminars were informative and entertaining (as always, it was very difficult to select only one per session from the offerings).
The Friday evening Happy Hour at Cloud 9 was probably the most crowded I've seen (and so many new faces—you did a great job publicizing the event). The Friday and Saturday night entertainment was memorable (can't get those black drawers out of my mind!), and the venue was perfect (really much better than the cavernous Convention Center for such performances, and—as the CAMP Treasurer pointed out—less expensive!). Finally, the 10% discount offered by area restaurants for Women's FEST was a welcome benefit, and was the incentive for us to try MIXX (we had a wonderful meal, and Natalie had a fine Cosmo!).
Again, congratulations to all and thank you for a memorable event!
