Stephen A. Grady
Stephen A. Grady of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Miami Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. He graduated from Georgetown University where he majored in French, and continued his education and earned his master’s degree in Linguistics from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Being fluent in French and German, Stephen worked for TESOL, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, and went on to co-own and manage the Lord and Hamilton Seaside Inn in Rehoboth Beach.
Stephen was a voracious reader, enjoyed learning other languages, and world travel. He was religious, kind, and gentle. He enjoyed tennis and swimming, and was an avid runner, having run cross-country for Georgetown University, and in the Marine Corps Marathon several times.
Stephen was dearly loved by his family and his partner. He is survived by his parents of Topsfield, MA, five brothers and sisters, as well as his partner of twenty years, Robert C. Thompson, Jr. of Rehoboth Beach, DE and Miami Beach, FL.
Private services were held. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society, 511 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE, or to CAMP Rehoboth.
Sherri Lynn Swenson
Sherri Lynn Swenson passed away at her home in Rehoboth Beach Thursday, May 12, 2016, after a valiant fight against cancer. She was born August 3, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of Halcyon Swenson of Florida and the late Robert Swenson.
Sherri graduated from Worthington High School, Ohio State, and the University of Pittsburgh with a master's in physical therapy. She worked as a rehabilitation director in Prince William County Hospital System in Virginia for 22 years, and she also worked as a physical therapist at Beebe Healthcare until 2015. Sherri and Jane Klein were co-owners of In2Soles shoe store in Rehoboth Beach since 2006.
On Aug. 3, 2013, Sherri married Jane Klein in a sunrise ceremony in Rehoboth Beach. Sherri and Jane lived in Rehoboth Beach with their two dogs and two cats and are blessed with a multitude of friends.
Sherri loved the outdoors, was an avid biker and lived an active, healthy life that inspired her friends and family. Her appreciation for animals and her concern for the environment were reflected in her plants, her birds, and her walks on the beach as well as in her warm and welcoming home. She cared for people, and provided support and assistance to anyone she met. She was a giving person who respected all living things, and she truly lived her philosophy and set a beautiful example for all who knew her. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her mother, Sherri is survived by her wife, Jane Klein; two brothers, Robert Craig Swenson of Florida and Barry Swenson of California; two nephews, Rob Swenson of California and Eric Swenson of California; three stepsons, Trevor Klein of Kentucky, Gavin Klein of Texas and Evan Klein of California; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Dylan, Ayla, and Wyatt Klein.
A Memorial Service for Sherri will be held on July 6, 2016 at 6 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth.
