Ever since it snowed on the first of April, I have been thinking about all of the odd changes in weather patterns we have encountered this year. It does seem as though Mother Nature is playing nasty little tricks things such as frost warnings at the end of April and she's not as cooperative as she used to be. Our environmental problems are our own doing, I realize, but did we really go through that many cans of Final Net hair spray? Enough already, let it be summer!
All through this issue, there is mention of our website: www.camprehoboth.com, designed by David DeLuca of Enrapt Publishing. It's mentioned so much because I really see it as being a powerful vehicle for CAMP Rehoboth to use in fulfilling our mission cooperation and understanding among all people as we work toward building a safe, inclusive community with room for all. Others seem to agree that we are off to a good start. Users of Starting Point, an Internet search engine, voted www.camprehoboth.com a "Hot Site" recently. Starting Point will feature our site on May 1. What's the bottom line of all this? More people will find out what most of us have known for years the Rehoboth Beach area is a wonderful jewel, the diamond state.
To those of you (too numerous to name) to whom I sometimes forget to say thanks far the support you give to the projects of CAMP Rehoboth, I would like to apologize. It's not that I don't acknowledge or appreciate your never-ending support nothing could be further from the truth. There are so many of you, residents and visitors, in and around Rehoboth, who faithfully show up to give, work, play, laugh, dance, cry and celebrate with us in all we do, and that's what makes a community. And now, as we embark on a busy season of parties for fun and parties for funds, I will probably not do much better at saying thanks, so please remember how important you are to us.
Feel like twirling your skirt a bit? Grab your partner and head over to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center the weekend of May 2-4. It will be impossible for you not to be caught up in the spirit as the Chesapeake Squares of Baltimore host their annual gay/lesbian square dance-a-thon "Pass the Ocean Hon!" I never can seem to remember whether to bow or to curtsy to my partner; however, so they will only let me watch.
Don't forget to fill out a form for the BEACH BOOK 97, the directory of Rehoboth Beach area Summer Residents and their frequent guests including you year-round residents. The directory, put together by Tom Minnuto and Chris Riss and published by CAMP Rehoboth, is a fun way to figure out who that was you were just talking to over cocktails at The Moon or on the dance floor at the Renegade. You can pick up the forms at CAMP Rehoboth (next to Lambda Rising) or from Tom or Chris on the beach. Better yet, you can fax the info to (302) 227-5604 or e-mail: info@camprehoboth.com. Don't miss out on being listed.
