Costumes To Go |
After 25 years of producing 4 shows a year, Possum Point PLAYERS will be cleaning out their closets and selling vintage clothing and old props. The yard sale will take place on June 27, at 8:30 a.m., Possum Hall, Georgetown. It will be a kickoff to the ground breaking ceremony, which is scheduled to begin at 10a.m. that morning. Many other activities are also being planned.
The renovation of Possum Hall will finally begin, and as the Possums prepare for this exciting phase of their community theatre, closets are being cleaned and shelves are being emptied. The theatre must be made ready for the construction. Louise Hartzell, vice president of Possum Point Players, and one of the original members says, "We are selling vintage clothing from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Skirts pantssuitsblousesetc. Items that we have used in the past, but just can*t keep any longer, will be put up for sale." Hartzell continues, "We are selling 80% of our items for under $1. Many people have told us that we could make a fortune by pricing our clothing at a higher rate, but right now, we are not interested in that. We want to celebrate our ground breaking, clean out our closets, and give something fun back to a community who has been so good to us. For me it is a time of reflection. 25 years is a very long time, and one cannot help but remember all the fun we have had as we prepared and presented hundreds of shows. Possum Point PLAYERS is beginning the first phase of its renovation process which will make the theatre far more comfortable for the audience. The parking lot will be paved and lighted, the bathrooms and kitchens renovated, and the lobby will have a new face lift. As the PLAYERS continue to raise funds for the next phase of the renovation, a moment of celebration will take place on the 27th of June. Food, drinks, improvisational theatre, entertainment, face painting and dress up for children are but some of the activities.
