4 Years of LOVE Sparkle July 4th: Over $100,000 Given to HIV/AIDS Organizations in First Three Years
LOVE98, the fourth regional fundraising dance benefit event held annually since 1995 on Independence Day weekend in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, will take place on Saturday evening, July 4, at the Rehoboth Beach Convention and Civic Center. Three previous holiday weekend events have generated over $100,000 for HIV/AIDS education and direct services through distribution to HIV/AIDS community service organizations located throughout the Mid-Atlantic area. This years event, to be held from 8:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m., will feature music by popular DJ Orlando Diaz of Atlanta, Georgia. Guests will enjoy complimentary beverages at an open bar made possible by product support from national corporate sponsors including Seagrams and NAYA Canadian Natural Spring Water, and Rehoboth Beach restaurant and bar businesses. "The tremendous support received each year from Rehoboth Beach businesses and residents, as well as seasonal guests from throughout the Mid-Atlantic area who are familiar with the important education and service work being done by the beneficiary organizations in their home communities is what makes the LOVE events so much an integral part of the annual beach experience," says LOVE98 Event Chair Charlie Codacovi. Funds raised at this years event will be distributed to Food & Friends in Washington, D.C., Sussex County AIDS Committee (SCAC) in Rehoboth and Sussex County, Delaware, Health Education Resource Organization (HERO) in Baltimore, Maryland, and AIDS Information Network (AIN) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Funds are raised through individual and corporate sponsorships, ticket sales, and the sale of raffle tickets. The LOVE98 Raffle features airline travel prizes, and raffle tickets may be purchased at the event. The annual LOVE fundraising dance benefits are organized by a volunteer planning committee of both Rehoboth Beach residents and summer guests. LOVE98 is presented by Bill Goldstein, who also hosts the annual LOVE Sponsor Party each year at his residence in Rehoboth Beach, this year to be held on Friday evening, July 3. Washington-based special event producer Mark Lee is coordinating event production for the LOVE98 main event. Food & Friends of Washington, DC, continues in its role as fiduciary agent, and the non-profit group manages all event accounting. Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 at the door, if available, and may be purchased by phone charge through Box Office Tickets at 800-494-8497, or at the following retail locations: CAMP Rehoboth in Rehoboth Beach; Lambda Rising in Rehoboth Beach, Washington, and Baltimore; and Afterwords in Philadelphia. Sponsor tickets priced at $100 are available by calling Box Office Tickets and include an invitation to the Sponsor Party, LOVE98 T-shirt, and sponsorship recognition.
