The outcome of the fifth annual Beach House Rush Party, at Cobalt in DC on Sunday, February 8, was extremely successful. The 2 1/2 hour party bustled with 300 plus beach-goers jammed in every inch of the bars second floor. As you know, throwing a party doesnt come easy, and it takes more than a single pair of hands to bring it all together. Therefore, I must extend my sincere thanks to every volunteer, host, sponsor, bartender, bar-owner, and attendant associated with the event. Each contributed in his or her own unique way and I could not have done it without them. In addition, I must take a moment to recognize a very special group of people: The business owners and managers of stores in Rehoboth and Washington who continuously support the Beach House Rush by providing extremely generous door prizes. For five consecutive years weve been privileged to raffle off weekend stays for two, dinners for two, clothing, and tickets to popular events just to name a few. The door prizes have become the main attraction, and this year, even more businesses contributed. Many of them offered their prize even before I had to ask. Whats more, some of the prizes came from people Ive never even met. Now thats what I call commitment. Commitment not just for the Rush Party, but to the unity that defines Rehoboth Beach. With that said, I personally want to thank Joyce Felton, the Blue Moon; John Berdini, Kelley Harp and Aaron Flamm, Cloud 9; Melissa Clink, At Melissas B&B; Jerry Sipes and Matt Turlinski, The Lighthouse Inn; Bob Redden and Russ Stucki, The Mallard Guest House; Wayne Hodge, The Renegade; Joe Moriarty and Randy Mason, Rock Creek Clothing; Drexel Davison, Bad Hair Day?; John and June Phillips, The Body Shop Fitness Center; Larry Pueppka, Body Rays; Rick Moore and David DeLuca, Ricks Fitness Center, and I must not forget each and every one of you at CAMP Rehoboth. My hat is off to you all. Hugo Gurl will be back next issue, so look sharp. You never know when you are Being Scene! |
