CAMP Rehoboth Secures Two Grants |
CAMP Rehoboth Receives Grant From the Gill Foundation
CAMP Rehoboth recently received a grant from the Gill Foundation, a $260 million-endowed organization committed to securing equal opportunities for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The $10,000 grant will support the Gay Men's Health Project of CAMP Rehoboth. The Gay Men's Health Project of CAMP Rehoboth has been working with gay men on health issues other than HIV/AIDS for the past year. Over 100 men have participated in the CAMPchats and health events. The Too Bad It's Monday dinners have been very successful in bringing men together to create community and a social network. Part of the work this year will be creating a GLBT medical provider booklet, which will be available in winter of 2003. Community Technology Grant Awarded to CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Verizon Foundation has awarded a $4,000 grant to the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Project to establish an electronic resource center for the GLBT community in Sussex County. Verizon is "committed to "venture philanthropy"-investing in the development of capacity infrastructure to create new leadership models for our communities. Verizon's investment priority focuses "on Literacy, Community Technology Development, Workforce Development, and Employee Volunteerism." The electronic resource center will provide members of the gay/lesbian community who don't have access to computer technology to have access to the Web, word processing and informational sessions on how to use the internet. For more information on these and other programs of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Project, call 302-227-5620 or visit CAMP Rehoboth at 39 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach. |
