CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Founder's Circle Update |
by Andrea Andrus |
"Aim at heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither."C.S. Lewis
When we established the Founders' Circle Capital Campaign in mid-2001 with a $1,000,000 goal, we aimed for heaven with just that goal alone. Purchasing the property at 39 Baltimore Avenue in 2002 and being able to consider renovating the property shows that indeed the earth was thrown in because we had a dream, we aimed high and we made it happen. All 140 of our Founders' Circle members and our many other supporters dreamed right along with us. Because of that dream and many dedicated people, our community was able to celebrate our new home. So where are we now as we follow this dream? Our Project Manager, Portico, Inc., has narrowed down the list of potential architects. The final candidates will present their plans in mid-March. This is so exciting because it brings us one step closer to having a full-service community center that will adequately house and support the activities and resources that our community needs. As we continue to move forward, we will keep calling on you for your ideas and we'll introduce new programs that will keep you coming back for more. To date, we have received pledges in excess of $337,000 through the support of our Founders' Circle members. We know that our dream is a challenge to the generosity of our members and our supporters who have not yet contributed to the campaign. We also know that we have a wonderful community that will rise to the challenge and help us meet our $1,000,000 goal so that in this chaotic world of ours, we will have confidence in our future. On May 31, 2003, we will come together to share our dreams of the future at the Founders' Circle Black & White Beach Ball at the Atlantic Sands Hotel. Once again, the HeART of the Community Art Project has created a collection of paintings around a themethis year it is "Summer Love." These works of art will be previewed for two weeks at the CAMP Rehoboth office where there will be an Artists' Reception on May 24, 2003. When we come together on the evening of May 31, there will be an art auction to raise funds for our new home. This event will not just be a celebration of the talent in our community. It will also be a celebration of our existence. We are all part of the same dream. The dream is to build a community of inclusion in a space that is safe and welcoming. Isn't that worth more than even the capital campaign goal we've established? Please show your generosity by becoming a member of the Founders' Circle Capital Campaign, or by giving a gift membership today. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and contributions are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. "Life is no brief candle to me. It is sort of a splendid torch which I have got a hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."George Bernard ShawAndrea Andrus may be reached at 302-227-5620, or by e-mail at andrea@camprehoboth.com. |
