CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Founder's Circle Update |
by Andrea Andrus |
What's Black and White (and red all over)? Check your closets for those black and white (or red all over) outfits and get ready to cruise on over to our third annual Founders' Circle event! Our Rehoboth community will gather Saturday, May 31, from 5 to 8 p.m., for another sellout CAMP Rehoboth Founders' Circle event. The Black and White Beach Ball was a popular and entertaining happening last year and this year's event promises to be just as fabulous. Having the event just minutes away from our Community Center at the Atlantic Sands Hotel ballroom, with its breathtaking ocean view, provides the perfect setting. It is the ideal place to honor our Founders' Circle members and supporters who believe that we can do great things in this small seaside town. From great company and scrumptious food to wonderful entertainment by Peggy Raley, it will be a magical evening! Topping off the evening will be our second annual art auction with a series of paintings created by 17 artists in our HeART of the Community Art Project. (See pages 6 and 7.) Many thanks to Murray Archibald and Sondra Arkin, HeART co-chairs, who have invested a great deal of time and energy in working with the artists as well as creating their own auction items. Using the theme of "Summer Love", the artists have created works that capture our hearts and our minds. With Chris Riss as auctioneer, along with his "Vanna" like assistants, the auction will be fast moving and fun. The "Sneak Peek" of this year's paintings at the Artists' Reception at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center on May 24 drew a huge crowd and lots of interest. The paintings were on display during this past week to give everyone an opportunity to choose which painting (or two) they want to bid on at the event. If you were unable to attend the reception or stop by the Community Center for a "sneak peek", the paintings will be on display in the ballroom prior to the auction. Be prepared for fast-moving bidding wars on these creative works of art! The entire evening will be a celebration of the commitment and dedication of our Founders' Circle members who now number 160 and have pledged over $400,000 to date to our Capital Campaign. Unbelievable! We are now more than a third of the way toward our goal of $1,000,000 after only two years. "The train has left the station" and we are well on our way thanks to our wonderful Founders' Circle members who believe in the spirit of community. You have our deepest appreciation and thanks for all that you have done. We talk about and celebrate community but what is it really? First, it is inclusive. All are welcome. No one is left out. Individuals' differences are welcomed and celebrated. Second, a community is realistic. Being part of a community is being willing to face problems with each other and to really listen to each other. No one is turned away. Third, a community cares for its members. We take care of each other knowing that each and every one of us is precious and vital to the community. We all need community. We each need a sense of belonging, to be a member of a group of people with shared values and concerns. Each of us, as part of our life's purpose, wants to help each other however we can. In a healthy and safe community, we work, and we play. We are eager participants in life and we share our life with other members of our community. Celebration matters! For those of you who celebrate with us at the Black and White (and red all over) Beach Ball on Saturday evening and are not Founders' Circle members, please become a member and join us in building our community. For those of you who are members, consider upgrading your membership to a higher level, give a gift of membership or ask a family member or friend to join and play an active role in our community. Help us, not to just build a Community Center, but to build a home with a "heart" and a safe place for all. Just complete the pledge form on page 36 in this issue of Letters and send it to the CAMP office. We will take care of the rest. A copy of the Founders' Circle brochure, which gives detailed information about membership levels and benefits, is available by contacting us. CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3) organization and all contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Gifts may be paid in cash, securities, or other property, including real estate. Pledge payments can be made annually, quarterly or monthly by check or credit card. Please contact us if you wish to make a bequest or if you wish to participate in your company's matching gift program. Additionally, when you become a member, you will receive unique Community Center gift(s) and your name will forever become part of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center. Your name or the name of a loved one will be permanently inscribed in our official Founders' Circle records. Depending on the membership level, names will be inscribed on a brick, a tile, a door or a room. For those of you who join at the highest level of "Founder," we will ensure that all of your names, or the names of a loved one, receive the highest level of recognition. In a real community, we work and we play. So, come play with us on Saturday evening and then work with us to make the full-service Community Center dream a reality.
