Love Weekend 2004 Rehoboth: DJs, Divas, Bachelors and Beaches |
LOVE Weekend 2004 celebrates the 10th anniversary of the annual Independence Holiday Weekend Love events in Rehoboth Beach to benefit local gay and lesbian service organizations. It's another incredible four-day, four-night star studded lineup of dance parties, beach events, and related Love outings July 2-5. This year's events will benefit the Sussex County AIDS Council, CAMP Rehoboth and the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center Project.
Again for 2004, LOVE Weekend will feature two incredible dance events at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center. Last year's double bill was a huge hit with attendees and the Love Benefit Committee expects this year's events to be even better. "We just feel like the double bill of two great dance events with major DJs and proven vocal talent appearances are the keys to a wonderful weekend at the beach," says Bill Alldredge, Love Committee Chair. "Our mantra this year is 'DJs, Divas, Bachelors, and Beaches.' We put great DJs and incredible Divas on stage during the weekend to make LOVE Weekend and Rehoboth Beach 'the' place to spend the holiday weekend." But what about the "Bachelors" part of the mantra? LOVE Weekend events actually kickoff with our world famous Bachelor Auction at Blue Moon in Rehoboth two weeks prior to LOVE Weekend on June 19. This annual event raises thousands of dollars every year for LOVE Weekend charities. Chris Riss will again be the master of ceremonies for the event slated to begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 19. There is always a bevy of buff boys showing their best sides in the name of charity. Getting the dance parties started and kicking the Independence Holiday Weekend into high gear will be the return of the LOVE GROOVE: Retro Ball, Friday night July 2 with DJ Mark Thomas (the original SAINT NYC) spinning the greatest dance music from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Expect tickets to go fast. DIVA IN THE HOUSE! Yes, just as Martha Wash tore the roof off the convention center in 2003, expect to be dazzled in 2004. Bonnie Pointer, once a member of one of the most influential vocal groups of the 70s and 80s, The Pointer Sisters, before hitting the top of the charts with her own solo hits "Heaven Must Have Sent You," and "Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)," will headline this year's trip back to the golden age of discos, polyester leisure suits, hot pants and Studio 54. As if the return of the Retro Ball wasn't enough excitement, Internationally famous, Billboard magazine reporter, super circuit DJ, producer, songwriter, and remix artist Julian Marsh will spin his joyous grooves for this year's main event at LOVE Weekend 2004 Saturday night July 3 in Rehoboth Beach. An event that was 10 years in the making, the LOVE Benefit Committee is proud to announce that Julian will be the headlining DJ for the 10th anniversary charity weekend celebration. ULTIMATE LOVE: Ultimate Summer Dance Party! kicks into high gear Saturday night July 3 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center with all the energy and great music that attendees have come to expect. Julian Marsh has headlined many of the major dance party events in the US over the past decade and no dance music fan's CD collection is complete without as many of Julian's CD compilations as possible. Appearing on the Centaur Music label, a LOVE Weekend sponsor for several years, Julian's talents can be heard on continuous mix CDs such as the Winter Party and Motorball, plus multiple Global Groove and Party Groove selections from Centaur. His annual PRIDE CD is anticipated every year just in time for Gay Pride celebrations in June. Julian will bring his anthemic, joyous style sound to the Convention Center for his inaugural spin at LOVE Weekend. Tickets for LOVE Weekend are now on sale.
