LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
SPEAK Out |
I am a single mother of three, who, up until two years ago spent lots of time in Rehoboth as my parents had a home on Beacon Drive (our beach house!). They sold it after they decided to retire to Maryland, rather than Rehoboth as previously planned (I was conceived in Dover and they have always vacationed in Rehoboth).
Anyway, I try and get back as often as I can...for some reason, it feels more like home to me than Maryland. We spent two days last week at the beach and picked up Fay's book...I didn't really think of it as "family" reading until my 12 year old daughter curled up with me on the chair and we read and laughed until after midnight! My kids are very "worldly" and non-judgmental, very unlike their friends here. I spent the next day asking shop owners if they know Ms Jacobs and telling them how much we were enjoying the book. I am nearing the end now, and just wanted to contact her and let her know how much joy she has brought me over the last several days! I haven't had time to read ANYTHING in years, but I am sneaking off to catch chapters here and there. When I told my daughter that I was "inspired" by the book, she calmly asked "to be a lesbian?" I said, "No, to start a journal!" Beth Almond Stuck in Bel Air, MD We just had to say a big "congratulations" and "thank you" to the entire staff at CAMP Rehoboth, ELBoW Productions, Golf League mavens Barb and Evie, brunch organizer Jane Blue and the folks at Cloud 9, and finally to Barb Fishel and Marti Austin for putting on an outstanding Women's Weekend. We have been to five of the seven Weekends and this was the best! The conference was full of different topics, activities, guest speakers, and great vendors; the entertainment was fantastic; the golf outing a blowing success, and brunch with the sounds of Viki Dee delicious! For all those who haven't been to the Women's Weekend in awhile, we encourage you to mark your calendars for 2008. Kathy Davison and Ruth Dickerson I just want to let you know just how much I enjoyed the Women's Weekend in Rehoboth. There were so many things that were informative, and the shows were unbelievable. I met so many great ladies and hope these will be long term friendships. I cannot say enough of how much enjoyment I had during the whole weekend. I look forward to next year and the ones after that. I may become one of those volunteers to help the next time. I have been coming to Rehoboth for many years and am planning on being there in my retirement yearssooner would be even better for me. Thanks so much to Kathy for all the things she does for CAMP Rehoboth and the people like me who call there constantly for information. She has always been so warm and helpful. Again, thanks so very much for CAMP Rehoboth and all the things you bring to the community.
