Three of our own area top chefs will compete in the preparation of an appetizer and main course, all with the theme Flavor of New Orleans. The event is part of Main Street's Mardi Gras weekend in Rehoboth, with restaurants offering Cajun and Creole cuisine, a gumbo cook-off, Mardi Gras parties and more. The Chef Showdown culinary competition will spotlight contestants Jay Caputo (Espuma, Porcini House); Ian Crandall (Kindle); and Kevin Reading (Nage). While the chefs are working their culinary magic, there will be an emcee running the showdown, music, oysters (donated by Concierge by the Sea), beignets (donated by Retro Caf), gumbo (donated by Purple Parrot), a cash bar with mimosas, Bloody Mary's and beer, plus door prizes and a silent auction. The event benefits Rehoboth Beach Main Street, CAMP Rehoboth, and Center for the Inland Bays. Tickets are limited. Call 302-227-2772 to order yours. World AIDS Day Activities Joined the Rehoboth Parade and Moved to All Saints The Rehoboth World AIDS Day Candlelight Walk took a different route in December as the walkers joined the Rehoboth Hometown Parade under a banner of Hope. The walkers proceeded to All Saints' Church for a Service of Healing and Remembrance with music by the Clear Space Chorus. Pictured are Ken Mahan, Guillermo Silveira, Sharyn Warwick, Ward Ellinger, Laura Simon, and Cathin Bishop. Mr. Double L Gives Books to CAMP Paul Masterson, Mr. Double L Leather 2008, recently presented a "leather library" to Sal Seeley, Director of the CAMPsafe HIV Education and Outreach Program. The books are now part of a large lending library of GLBT books and DVDs located in the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center at 37 Baltimore Ave. Stop by the Center and see what's available. Peterson's Eyecons Benefit CAMP The Rehoboth Beach Theatre of the Arts was the place to be for the holidays as Christopher Peterson, North America's foremost female impersonator, brought his cast of women to the beach for a holiday extravaganza. In addition to bringing joy to the audience, the shows also helped raise $550 for the building campaign of the CAMPRehoboth Community Center. |
