I'm writing to your publication in hopes of finding Big Brothers/Big Sisters.
As a single mother, I have a daughter with a Big Sister and a son still on a waiting list for a Big Brother. It seems that Big Brothers and Sisters are hard to find. I think this is a sad state of affairs, considering we're a very populated area. There are wonderful friends and neighbors all around, and I'm hoping a special person is out there for my son.
I'm raising my children to be open minded and therefore have no objections to race, religion, gender, etc.
In fact, this is one of the screening questions I was asked. I believe we have a large untapped resource right here in Rehoboth but this must be something an individual wants to do. I don't feel it's too much to ask from members of our community it's actually an extension of friendship that benefits everyone.
Sincerely, Eve Middleton
