Judy Rolfe Photographs at Cloud 9 Restaurant On Sunday April 15th from 3-5 p.m. after the 7th Annual CAMP Rehoboth Women's Weekend, Cloud 9 Restaurant, 234 Rehoboth Avenue, is featuring the works of Judy G. Rolfe. A former USA Today photo editor, and freelance photographer for almost twenty years Judy is a gifted photographer who now lives in Lewes. Many of the images she has selected to display are of our local area and coastline. Judy's portfolio contains portraits of the rich and famous, including several U.S. Presidents and First Ladies, to those of the poor and unknown, trying to etch out a living in Third World countries. She has shot photos of ancient Cambodian temples while hanging out of a helicopter and photos of NFL football games, while crouching (and ducking) in the end zone. Recently she photographed all the presidential candidates and producers and cast members of The L Word. Although, not all at the same time! You can learn more about Judy and her photography over a glass of champagne and hors d'oeuvres at Cloud 9. Views of the Inland Bays at the Peninsula Gallery The latest exhibit at the Peninsula Gallery is titled Across the Bays. Featuring mostly large oil paintings by Berlin artist Randy Hofman, the work captures the various moods of Delmarva's coastal bays. Originally from the countryside between Washington and Baltimore, Hofman studied art at the Pratt Institute in New York. On leaving New York, he moved to the Ocean City area to pursue his dream of being an oil painter. As he walked down the boardwalk one day he ran into Marc Altamar creating Christian images in the sand. "The Bible themes were endearing to me. I'd do my oil painting during the day and then help out Marc in the evenings. I was his apprentice." When Marc moved to Florida in 1981, Randy decided to keep up Marc's legacy and today he continues to create huge sand sculptures, while earning his living as a fine artist. The exhibit continues until April 26. The Peninsula Gallery is located at 520 E. Savannah Rd., just across the canal bridge, in Lewes. For additional information call 302-645-0551. |
