Girls Night Out |
by Tricia Massella |
Lori, Raney, Liza and George...Alison, Coleen, and Deena. After celebrating Raney Hostedlers birthday at Loris Caf in the CAMP Courtyard with a double chocolate cake by Tastefully Dones Bruce Meade, we decided to "go fly a kite," literally. So Lori Kline, Ginko Biloba, Raney and I walked over to Air Traffic in the Village by the Sea shops where owner Pam Hertel helped us pick out a beautiful rainbow kite. From there we proceeded straight to the beach where we watched the gentle winds embrace the kite and take it away. In all the excitement Ginko forgot where she put her sunglasses so Lori rushed her over to E. C. Shades for a really cool pair of Revos. Meanwhile, we ran into Barry Becker (Lambda Rising) and Konrad Noebel (Rehoboth Holistic Center), who invited us to join them for happy hour at the Iguana Grill. All that running around made us a little hungry so we ordered some appetizers (the crab and spinach dip was awesome), a margarita, and chilled until it was time to see Blue Raven at Plumb Loco. While at Plumb we met Liza Oehling from Hershey, Pennsylvania who had such a good time her last stay at the beach, she convinced her husband Jim to bring her again. Unfortunately, when their car broke down in Dover, Lisa had to think fast. She left Jim with the car, hitched a ride to Rehoboth, and made it just in time for Agirls night out.@ (The last we heard, Jim was seen wandering around the air base looking for a fan belt!) From there we headed to Yum Yum on Wilmington Ave. for their Wednesday ALocals Night,@ where Red Letter Day was performing. (Can you believe all these happenings on a Wednesday night?) Well, before we could even order a drink, Ginko said, "Ill have the tuna sashimi and a spring roll." Obviously, she forgot we had already eaten! Quite a few familiar faces could be seen enjoying the music of Suzanne and AJ: Kelley Harp (Cloud 9), Beth Harrow, Bridget Bartley (The Beach House) with her new squeeze Jill, and three of the four Yum Yum owners, Alison Blythe, Coleen Donnelly, and Deenna Chafetz. (Fourth partner, Steve Webster, had made it an early night.) Thursday we started at Harlows happy hour which is always like the social event of the year. After dinner there it was off to the Renegade to see Chris (thats Christopher Peterson to you female impersonator virgins!) If you are one of the three people left who have not seen this show you better hurry, hes only here through Labor Day, every Thursday and Sunday at 10:00 p.m. The lovely Fantasia was at the door while Manager Wayne Hodge (decked out and looking good) graciously escorted us to our table. Immediately following the show, DJ Jeff Harrison started spinning tunes and before long we were on the box with Brian Helsdon, Duane Lyon and Brian FriendCdancing until dawn. Friday, Cricket Ossman was all over town celebrating her birthday with other half Gabby Outten. They ended up at the Double L doing shots with bartenders Paulo Silva, Jerry Davis and Michael Graham.
