The Vagina Monologues to Return to Rehoboth |
The Fay J. Productions presentation of The Vagina Monologues that saw sold out houses and rave reviews at the Rehoboth Convention Center last winter returns to Rehoboth Beach Aug. 12 and 13 for two performances only at the top of the Henlopen Hotel.
On Friday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug 13 at 8 p.m., Fay J. Productions, will bring back actresses Jane Bruns, Stacey Fearleiley and Eloise Ullman for an evening of laughter and tears in Eve Ensler's award winning play. Tickets are limited, as the show is being presented in the intimate setting of a banquet room at the Henlopen Hotel. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased by calling CAMP Rehoboth at 227-5620. 25% of the proceeds will go to the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center fund. This January, over 900 people saw the show, directed by Fay Jacobs, at the Convention Center. The diverse audiences, men and women, gay and straight, cheered and gave standing ovations to the production, as it raised funds to support programs that prevent violence against women. The Vagina Monologues is a show that grew out of interviews the author had with more than three hundred women ages six to seventy-six from around the world. The results are stunning, with soliloquies ranging from an older woman's memory of her first experience with her own sexuality to an account by a Bosnian refugee to the birth of the author's grandchild. Ensler's stories, facts, and words give testimony to the power and vulnerability of gender and womanhood in our society today. The monologues are by turns inspiring, hilarious, moving and thought-provoking. The play has been performed (and sold-out) in such cities as New York, Los Angeles, Oklahoma City, Baltimore, and Dallas, as well as in Jerusalem, London, and Zagreb. In addition to the performances in August, Salero Restaurant has planned a pre-show dinner special. After purchasing your tickets at 302-227-5620, you can call Salero directlat 302-227-8630 if you would like to have reservations for the special pre-show dinner. Gather your friends, family members (including the men!), who missed the show last winter, and see The Vagina Monologues on Aug. 12 or 13. Call 302-227-5620 now to reserve your tickets. |
