As the song says, “Oh, it’s a long, long time from May to December, and the days grow short when you reach September…” The days may be shorter, but the list of arts-related offerings in town is growing! Our “second season” at the beach is just kicking off, and just so you won’t miss anything, better mark those calendars now. All locations are Rehoboth Beach, unless otherwise noted.
PERFORMING ARTS
CAMP Rehoboth Chorus has begun rehearsals for Oh! What a Night—Back to the ‘50s and ‘60s. Membership for the season will close after the first rehearsal in October, so for information about joining the chorus, please contact Bob Hoffer or call him at 814-937-4678. As conductor of the chorus, I can guarantee you’ll have the time of your life!
Clear Space Theatre Company (20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-2270) the regions only professional theatre company, presents The Foreigner—opening September 27 and playing weekends through October 13. Don’t miss “the funniest comedy you’ve never seen! Fall classes for youngsters through seniors in voice, acting, and dance are underway, but it’s not too late to register. Coastal Concerts (in residence at Bethel UMC Hall; Fourth and Market Streets in Lewes; 888-212-6458; P.O. Box 685; Lewes, DE. 19958) has an “Early Bird Special” for their 2013-2014 season—purchase five concerts for the price of four—and save $30! The new season includes the Orion String Quartet, Brasil Guitar Duo, Danish String Quartet, violinist Elena Urioste, pianist Michael Brown, and pianist Ching-Yun Hu.
Possum Point Players (441 Old Laurel Road in Georgetown; 302-856-4560) presents the Broadway hit Les Miserables opening September 20 and running weekends through October 6.

*Amandeline Gallery (Galleries at 20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-226-0330) features the avant-garde figurative and still-life work of emerging, local artist Maddi Ponko, currently studying at Savannah College of Art and Design. New work from Delaware artist, Cassie Lawn Walker, will also be exhibited. Also, large format oil paintings from realist painter, M.P. Gerald, whose work depicts colorful, sub-marine landscapes, textured feathers, and butterfly wings.

Art for a Purpose, (135 Second Street, second floor, in Lewes; 302-245-4528) is a one-of-a-kind art gallery run by Midge Smith which assists tax-exempt organizations by turning donated art into cash for their unrestricted use. Gallery hours Friday-Sunday.
Back Porch Café (59 Rehoboth Avenue) presents Visions of Power—new works by artist Rodney Cook through September 18.

*Paintiques and The Galleries at 20 Baltimore (20 Baltimore Avenue; (302) 258-4203) celebrates cooler temperatures and the end of meter parking with waves of fresh new ideas and inspiration.
