Whats in a name?
In the July 3, 1998 issue of LETTERS, Bridget Bauer (pictured left) was incorrectly identified as Bridget Bartley. As we all know, a rose is a rose is a rose, however, the Bridgets mentioned are different and unique, and both great supporters of CAMP Rehoboth! Dignity-Integrity Services at the Beach A community of gay and lesbian Catholics and Episcopalians and inclusive friends is now meeting weekly for services, prayer groups, and pot luck suppers in members homes and welcoming churches in the Sussex County area. And, on July 19, they will join them in a special mass. The Rehoboth-Lewes chapter of Dignity-Integrity welcomes men and women of all faiths into its Defenders social club also. Gay Male Couples Sought For Research Project Gay male couples who have lived together for at least two years are sought as volunteers to be interviewed as part of a research project. The purpose of this study is to learn more about relationship satisfaction in gay male couples. The research seeks to improve understanding of gay couples and of couples in general, and may provide a better knowledge basis for working with couples who are having difficulties. The study is conducted as part of work on a doctoral dissertation in Clinical Psychology. By participating, you may gain the following: The satisfaction of contributing to important research of gay couples; New perspectives on your own relationship; and The enjoyment of talking about your relationship and reminiscing about the past. Participation involves each partner completing questionnaires and a joint "oral history" interview about the relationship and the couples history. The time required is 15 to 45 minutes for completing the questionnaires, and 1 1/2 hours for the audiotape interview. All information gathered is kept confidential, and participants anonymity and privacy are protected. If you and your partner have lived together for at least two years and are interested in participating, please call Richard Boesch at 202-462-8929 to sign up for the study or for further information. DC Gay Chorus Concert Raises $8,600 for Sussex County AIDS The Gay Mens Chorus of Washington, DC recently raised $8,600 through a benefit performance at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center in Rehoboth Beach, DE. The concert, which was held on June 27, 1998, was a fundraiser for the Sussex County AIDS Committee (SCAC), a local non-profit organization that serves persons in Sussex County (DE) with HIV infection or AIDS. "We were delighted with the entire event," said SCAC Executive Director Glen C. Pruitt. "We filled the Convention Center with people who support our work and who love good music. The Chorus and its ensembles delivered a wonderful show. It was great fun, but the evening also had a serious purpose: to raise money for our work here in Sussex County for persons with HIV infection. This years total is more than twice the amount raised by their first concert held here in 1995!" Pruitt indicated that plans are being considered to bring the Chorus back for another concert during the summer of 1999. The Sussex County AIDS Committee is a private, non-profit organization that provides support services to residents of Sussex County with HIV infection or AIDS. In addition, SCAC provides educational programs and offers free, anonymous HIV testing at its office in Rehoboth Beach, DE. For more information about SCAC and its programs, contact the SCAC office at (302) 644-1090 or e-mail them at scacinc@dol.net. |
