LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
Letters to LETTERS |
Dear CAMP Staff,
I love the website! Ive been reading LETTERS since day one and have been visiting Rehoboth Beach since the mid-seventies when I was a teenager. Things have really changed for the better, at least for the most part. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I always read LETTERS front to back and I especially like reading Fay Jacobs columns. My other half (of 15 years) and I read the stories to each other at home or on the beach and laugh our butts off. Fay, if you run out material, let me know, I have a few good ideas. Sincerely, Troy Watson To the Editor: Just got a little homesick for Rehoboth, so I signed on to the CAMP Rehoboth web site and found a cover picture of Gladys. Now I feel so much better. Hear you have a bit of a Noreasterner going on and setting up the beach for more replenishment. Not much work out here, but I applied for a job as Client Service Director for the local Maui AIDS foundation. John Abbott Hawaiijy@aol.com Hey Everyone, We Couldnt Have Done it Without You! We not only reached our goal of $5000, we surpassed it. To date, donations have exceeded $5400! We would like to personally thank each and every person who contributed to The Wellness Community and this WONDERFUL cause. Because of you, the Wellness Community can continue to help people touched by cancer. Thanks for making a difference! Love, Kimberly Owens and Cris Cucinotta Dear Steve, We would like to thank you and all of the businesses that contributed door prizes to the Eastern Shore Bears membership party last month. We gave away over $800 in door prizes and had a successful party. At one time there were over 78 men at the Double L. We look forward to serving the gay community. If at any time you need our help, please call. Bear Hugs, Bamm Dear Steve, Sorry for the mass mailing but I thought that this was worth bringing to everyones attention.... The issue is "One small ad, but one giant step forward in visibility and acceptance." Anheuser-Busch (Bud Light) has created an ad depicting two men holding hands (first time ever for them to use this type of ad) with the slogan, "Be yourself and make it a Bud Light". It is awesome! The information was released in a story in the Wednesday Business section of the St. Louis Post Dispatch. As the article explains, the release of the new ad campaign is designed to coincide and show support specifically for the St. Louis PrideFest 99. Hundreds of calls have been received by Bud Light AGAINST this ad. You dont have to like Bud or even drink at all to support the HUGE breakthrough step that Anheuser-Busch is taking and to appreciate the potential backlash the company faces. Due to the number of callers, the company has set up a separate phone line to handle all of the calls, 1-877-233-7725 (toll free). All you do is call the number and a taped voice mail comes on stating the call has been registered in support for Bud Lite campaign and the Pride festival. PLEASE HELP!! SUPPORT BUD LIGHTTELL THEM!!! Call today! David de la Tour Dear CAMP Rehoboth, This is a message to my friends and e-mail pals, asking you to please send a quick message to your local public broadcast television station (PBS) to encourage them to air an important show, Its Elementary, in June. An award winning show, Its Elementary addresses the subject of homosexuality within the context of elementary schools. There is much opposition by the Coral Ministries and others to block the showing of this documentary. Your call or contact could make the difference in whether the film is aired in your community. I know its a pain, but take 5 minutes and send in an e-mail at least, and let your PBS station know you want them to air the show. For your convenience, the contact info for PBS stations in all the mid-Atlantic area is included below.
