Tickets on Sale for Razzle Dazzle Musical |
The Razzle Dazzle 2000 revue comes to town June 17 and 18 for three performances at the Chambers Studio at the Rehoboth Art League in Henlopen Acres. Spotlighting a trio of professional musical comedy performers, Razzle Dazzle is an eclectic collection of musical numbers about the complicated world of show businessfeaturing classic show tunes as well as some deliciously obscure words and music. With topics plucked from the news and no sacred cows left unsung, Razzle Dazzle takes on Hollywood and Times Square. Starring Margaret Allman, Hans Bachmann and Eric C. Peterson, Razzle Dazzle 2000 takes aim at both Broadway and Hollywood in a fast-paced cabaret performance. The show, produced by Fay J. Productions, in partnership with the Rehoboth Art League, will have performances at 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, and a 4 p.m. matinee on Sunday, June 18. For tickets, call the Art League at 227-8408. An edition of Razzle Dazzle, presented in Lewes two years ago, played to sold out houses and rave reviews. Now the troupe is back at the beach with brand new material and a new home, the Art League's intimate Chambers Studio theater. Razzle Dazzle 2000 includes music from show biz legends such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and Andrew Lloyd Weber and songs from 42nd Street, Annie Get Your Gun, Cabaret and much more. The show is directed by Fay Jacobs whose theatrical resume includes more than 25 years of professional productions in the Washington, D.C. area. Jacobs was last represented at the beach with February's sold-out run of Love Letters at the Art League. The three veteran performers have resumes that include performances at major D.C. venues such as Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre and the National Theatre, as well as smaller, stages such as Horizons, the Source and Keegan Theatre. Razzle Dazzle 2000 features choreography by Margaret Allman. Both Allman and Peterson are veterans of the original Razzle Dazzle, with Peterson having last appeared at the Art League in Love Letters. Washington, D.C. set designer Don Gardiner will help, once again, to turn the Art League's Chamber Studio into a comfortable, intimate theater space. According to director Jacobs, the Chambers Studio proved to be a wonderfully intimate setting for a small production, with an elevated stage so the audience has an excellent view of the actors. "With just a few adjustments and theatrical gels, the same lights used to spotlight artist's models work very well for stage lighting," Jacobs says. With seating in the Chambers Studio limited, early reservations are suggested. "Our production of Love Letters was sold out in advance," says Art League Executive Director Nancy Alexander, and reservations are already coming in for Razzle Dazzle from the listing in the Art League calendar." Tickets for Razzle Dazzle are $10 and may be reserved by calling the Rehoboth Art League at 302-227-8408. |
