Tickets on Sale for HTP's S'wonderful Gershwin Show |
Tickets are now available for the Henlopen Theater Project's first offering of their 2002 Summer Season, Sweet & Low Down: A Gershwin Evening. The award winning show features its original New York cast; cabaret star KT Sullivan and the multi-talented pianist and performer Mark Nadler and of course the fabulous music of George and Ira Gershwin. The show ran for several months in New York and London and received critical acclaim and was nominated for a Drama Desk and two Lucille Lortel awards and won the prestigious MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabaret) Award for Outstanding Musical Review. Critics call the show "S'wonderful", "Sophisticated and Bubbly" and "Beguiling" singling out Ms. Sullivan as sultry and has been compared to Judy Holiday and Marilyn Monroe. Mr. Nadler was hailed as a genius at the piano and was praised for his gifted comic abilities as well as his tap-dancing. KT Sullivan was recently named one of the top ten cabaret performers in America by Fortune magazine and Billboard magazine called her "one of the finest cabaret/musical stage performers around" The New York Times described her as "... the cabaret equivalent of whipped cream atop a surprisingly nutritious dessert." She has appeared on Broadway in Three Penny Opera with Sting, the play Broadway (directed by the theater legend George Abbott) and the lead of Lorelei Lee in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Ms. Sullivan also co-starred with Tommy Tune in the workshop of Easter Parade and the national tour of Annie Get Your Gun. As well Ms. Sullivan has headlined at the White House, Carnegie Hall, The Spoleto Festival and regularly performs at the Algonquin in New York. On Television Ms. Sullivan has appeared on Police Squad, Night Court and Remington Steele. She has recorded five albums. Mark Nadler received the MAC Award for three years in a row as outstanding Musical Comedy Performer as well as the 1994 Bistro Award for directing, conceiving and music directing Hard Candy: The songs of Carol Hall. Mark has performed at Carnegie Hall and Town Hall with the NY Pops and almost every major cabaret room in NY. Internationally he has performed in England, France, Belgium and Holland. On Broadway, Mark appeared as "The Fingers on the Keys" in Dame Edna: The Royal Tour and as Pinky Pickles in The Sheik of Avenue B. At Lincoln Center Mark co-wrote and starred in The Nose Knows a tribute to Jimmy Durante. Regionally he appeared in Sheer Madness and as the octogenarian piano-ukulele and chimes playing, singing, dancing Miss Mabel in Radio Gals. He has appeared on The Phil Donahue Show, Current Affair and Live with Regis and Kathie Lee, and has worked with many artists including Glenn Close, Shirley MacLaine and even Katherine Hepburn. Sweet & Low Down plays for three shows, July 5 and 6 at 8 p.m. and July 7 at 7 p.m. at The Little Theater, 150 Kings Hwy, Lewes. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling 302-226-4103. |
