Presented by Second Street Players and directed by Steve Twilley, Crimes of the Heart is the witty and often touching story of three eccentric southern sisters who reunite after the youngest of them, Babe, has just shot her husband in the stomach, "just because (she) didn't like the way he looks." The oldest sister, Lenny, takes care of their grandfather and is turning into an old maid, while Meg, who tried to make it in Hollywood as a singer/actress, has had a wild life filled with many men. Their reunion causes much joy, but also many tensions. Set in 1974, "Crimes of the Heart" features dark revelations by the sisters, sniping by the priggish cousin next door, memories of lost opportunities for love, glimpses at the tender bonds of family, and plenty of charm and off-beat humor. The play was the basis for a 1986 Academy Award-nominated movie of the same name that starred Sissy Spacek, Diane Keaton, and Jessica Lange. Show times are 8 p.m. for Friday and Saturday performances and 3 p.m. for Sunday's matinee. Riverfront Theater is located at 2 South Walnut Street, along the Mispillion River in downtown Milford. Tickets are $10 for the evening performances. Senior and student tickets are $9 for the Sunday matinee. "Flowers are among nature's most striking visuals," commented Haldeman. "My concept is to assist customers in visualizing how floral designs are integrated in different home environments and room settings. I also want my customers to be a part of the creative experience where beautiful and innovative designs are achieved using unusual combinations of ingredients in unconventional containers, particularly their own favorites." Haldeman's design style borrows from decidedly continental influences, preferring loose, less structured arrangements of exquisite (and exotic) blooms paired with unusual foliage, vines, fruits and berries. From classically simple to sumptuously elegant, Haldeman's signature translates into distinctive designs for weddings, special events, the home, or as an extraordinary gift for anyone. Shop hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., or by appointment. For additional information, please call 302-644-8979. |
