July 26, 2013 - Sundance 2013 by Nancy Sakaduski

Dance is High Point of 2013 Sundance Event Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach

Hundreds of partiers will again crowd the floor of the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center for CAMP Rehoboth’s Sundance, the high point of the Labor Day Weekend in Rehoboth Beach. This year’s event, Sundance 2013: Rainbow XXVI—Circus of the Summer Sun, will be held Sunday, September 1, the second night of the two-day Sundance event. Participants can attend either or both nights of the event. Tickets are $45 for one night, $80 for both, and are available now online.

On Saturday night each Labor Day Weekend, the Convention Center is transformed into a spot-lighted high-style auction extravaganza. Bar stations and scrumptious hors d’oeuvres by Plate Catering are scattered around the room, which is filled with gift items, vacation packages, dining opportunities, pieces of fine art, and one-of-a-kind experiences up for bid.

Then on Sunday, the Convention Center is transformed again, this time into the region’s wildest and best dance club. This is the high-energy party the event is named for. The Sundance fun starts at 8 p.m., with dancing until 2 a.m. and an open bar all night. Legendary DJ Mark Thomas hand-picks contemporary progressive tunes with a few classic sounds here and there to get the crowd going. He starts slow, building up the energy in the room as the crowd gains momentum. Hundreds of revelers crowd the floor in an atmosphere unmatched by other events. Lighting designer Paul Turner turns up the heat with his amazing lights and special effects.

Sundance is truly a night to remember, and the don’t-miss summer send-off people look forward to all year. Space is limited, so be sure to get tickets early to avoid disappointment.

All proceeds from Sundance benefit CAMP Rehoboth (a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation) and support the activities and programs it provides to the Rehoboth community.
