Adoption Final for Two Dads in RB

All of us at CAMP Rehoboth were thrilled to witness the adoption of Kaden Riley-Spillane by his new dads, John and Keith Riley-Spillane. It’s fun having Kaden join Asia, Frank, and Janine.

 

Urvashi Vaid Says “Get Involved”

LGBT activist Urvashi Vaid inspired Rehoboth Women at CAMP Rehoboth on June 22 with a session called Lesbian Political Power: Why it matters. For more information, see "LPAC"s Agenda for Lesbian and Male Allies" in this issue. 

 

Delaware Stonewall Dems Summer Event

Delaware Stonewall President Dan Cole and Delaware House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf welcomed U.S. Senator Chris Coons at their annual Summer Fundraiser on Saturday, June 21.

 

Leslie Sinclair Brings Light in CAMP Show

Photographer Leslie Sinclair, opens a new show in the CAMP Rehoboth Gallery on July 5 from 4-6 p.m. Leslie says, “The exhibit brings light to darkness, to create a mood, reveal a scene or highlight color and texture. Everyday objects become something more.” The exhibit will be on display at CAMP Rehoboth for the month of July. A second reception will be held July 12, 6-9 p.m. in conjunction with Art Walk.

 

CAMP Supporter Wins 2014 Prize

Long-time CAMP Rehoboth supporter Ron Childress has been announced as the winner of the 2014 PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction for his manuscript And West Is West. Childress will receive $25,000 and a publishing contract with Algonquin Books. The Bellwether Prize was established in 2000 by Barbara Kingsolver and is funded entirely by her to promote fiction that addresses issues of social justice.

 

Frank Schaefer at Epworth–Reinstated!

On June 16, the Rehoboth Beach community listened to the story of the Rev. Frank Schaefer who lost his credentials as a United Methodist Pastor for officiating at the wedding of his son to another man. A week after speaking at Rehoboth’s Epworth Methodist Church, Rev. Schaefer learned his credentials had been reinstated after the hearing of his appeal. Pictured: Steve Elkins, Rev. Schaefer, and David Garrett.

 

Bonjour! Letters Goes to France

Arch E. Pelley III and Patrick Lenz took a copy of Letters from CAMP Rehoboth to Paris and Normandy—and got to shake hands with President Hollande of France and President Barack Obama!

 

  

I Do, I Do! More Delaware Weddings

Tom Jamison and Don Wainwright were recently married on the beach in Rehoboth—and celebrated their 20th anniversary! Also tying the knot this month, Chuck O’Bryan and Jesus Medina, and Tom Conway and Thoth Weeda.
