LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
Speak Out |
The Rehoboth Beach Credit Card program has raised more than $6,400 benefiting the Rehoboth Beach community through CAMP Rehoboth, the Delaware Center for Inland Bays, and Rehoboth Beach Main Street.
Atlantic Horizons has made a total of 6 royalty disbursements for the Rehoboth Card program and the dollar amount donated has increased with every one. In order for this positive trend to continue, we still need your help! Encourage those who care about CAMP Rehoboth, and Rehoboth Beach in general, to apply for the card. Make sure all CAMP supporters are aware that each time they use the card, donations are made that directly benefit CAMP! Active involvement will ensure that the dollar amount donated each quarter will continue to increase. We have enjoyed creating this program for Rehoboth Beach and we are happy to have CAMP Rehoboth as a beneficiary. We look forward to continuing our support for your wonderful organization. Chip Thompson, President and Tim Green, CEO, Atlantic Horizons On behalf of the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, I wanted to thank you for providing our organization the opportunity to set-up a booth at the Women's Project Conference. As you may have heard, we raised $102 from raffle ticket sales, registered a new $450 membership and renewed a $100 membership. I also want to commend your efforts and all those involved in sponsoring such a great event. Both evening performances and the keynote speaker were wonderful. I didn't attend the workshops but I heard a lot of positive comments. I also witnessed women demonstrating their newly learned dance steps after the conference. The Swing Dance workshop will probably help reduce the incidence of bruised toes for quite a while! Please pass on my words of appreciation to all those who gave so much of themselves to produce this superb conference. The women's community is fortunate to have such a capable and committed group of people working on their behalf. Once again, please accept my appreciation for assisting our efforts to get the word out about the Rehoboth Beach Film Society. Susan Early, Development Director The Third Annual CAMP Rehoboth Women's Project Conference weekend was fantastic, so thanks to all the women on the Executive committee and behind the scenes who spent endless hours in the planning and executing of those events. Your efforts were totally appreciated. We had a memorable time from the opening show to the closing concert. Suzanne Westenhoefer was a laugh-a-minute. We had seen her before, but she outdid herself in this venue, and it showed in the audience's reaction. The conference, itself, gave us a chance to meet and interact with the women's community, as well as to learn and to enjoy ourselves. The guest speaker made us realize that we do need to connect with a community. The workshop sessions were informative and well presented, but the swing dance was so much fun. For us, the events ended with the concert by Barbara Higbie and Teresa Trull. Never having seen them before in concert, they made us fans for life. They played and sang their hearts out. What a fantastic ending to a wonderful weekend! To all of you who put together this weekend, take a bow, and know that the two of us are genuinely thankful for all of your hard work. Start planning the Fourth Annual Conference now, because we have the gas in the car and our bags packed. Helen and Marsha I'm writing to thank CAMPand especially Maggie, Andrea, and the conference committeefor another GREAT Women's Conference! Mary LoVerde was a fantastic choice for our keynote speaker. What a way to start a weekend and spend an early Saturday morning. Thanks for all the time, hard work, and planning that went into the whole weekend. From the vendor tables to the Saturday workshops to the kick-ass entertainment, this year's event was the best yet! I'm already looking forward to next year. Karen Sundquist As a resident of the District of Columbia and a summer resident of Rehoboth I was glad to see Peter Rosenstein's article on the District's promotion of GLBT tourists and growth. We have seen our land values soar and social acceptance increase as our east coast becomes more inclined to welcome diversity. I applaud Letters and Mr. Rosenstein for their foresight. I think we need to look beyond our shores to keep Rehoboth sound and prosperous. We are a wonderful mix of east coast cities and I hope remain so. John M. Hills A letter opposing HB99 written by Kenneth Weinig, Headmaster of Independence School in Newark, appeared in the Community News, which publishes a bunch of neighborhood newspapers, in Hockessin, Brandywine, New Castle, etc. This letter appeared in all editions. Among other things, the letter said if HB99 passes, "Pedophiles (often a type of homosexuality) would have the right to work in daycare centers." The Community News has invited responses and has published a couple of letters, including at least one that agrees with Mr. Weinig. You can find the text at www.communitypub.com.
