Fay Jacob's recent column (Letters, June 18, 2010) struck a touchingly familiar chord with me that I would love to share in a response if you're interested in the full story. I have been coming to Rehoboth for about 10 years and have learned so much about respect and acceptance in this community. Those lessons helped me more than I can say.
The crib notes version of my similar story is that 20 years after my high school graduation and several attempts at finding my first love, I found her. I am a straight, married woman and my first love was a young man. However, when we reconnected SHE was going through M2F transition and was in a dark and lonely place. Many, many people/friends would and have turned their backs. But I chose to reach out and turn my old boyfriend into a new girlfriend at a time when we both really needed someone.
