My spouse and I love Rehoboth Beach, and its friendly open arms. That’s particularly true of your Administrative Assistant Mickie McManamon. She was a great help to us in starting the search to relocate from outside Baltimore to RB. She started the positive chain reaction of putting us in touch with an awesome realtor, who connected us with a mortgage lender, etc. Mickie was particularly helpful in sharing her knowledge of the neighborhoods, the traffic, the culture and all that RB has to offer. She was, and for us will continue to be, an awesome asset to CAMP—an ambassador of sorts, you might say! Please share with her our genuine appreciation.
We will be visiting in July and plan to drop by the Center and meet her, and the rest of the staff, in person. Thanks for what you do for the community, and thanks for all the help you have given us.

Hats off to Rehoboth Commissioner Stan Mills and the Board of Commissioners for prohibiting smoking on the boardwalk, parks, bandstand and designated areas on the beach. The Board voted unanimously to prohibit smoking, and as Mr. Mills noted, the goal of the ban is to “reduce litter, pollution, and health risks.”
Their decision to do so will make for a healthier and more enjoyable beach experience for residents and tourists alike, and the American Lung Association in Delaware is proud of the Board’s vote.
Mr. Mills has previously noted that discarded butts create litter, pollute the environment and, if not fully extinguished, pose a significant threat of fire, as well as risk of injury to barefoot members of the public. Smoking poses significant health risks not only to the smoker but to all, including children who inhale secondhand smoke.
I hope other municipalities in Delaware will follow suit and enact stricter smoking laws—because smoking is optional, but breathing is not.
