March 7, 2014 - Buzz Worthy by Deb Griffin

Because I’m Happy!

Love the new Pharrell Williams song, “Happy” because it makes everybody get up and shake their groove thing when it starts to play, and nothing makes me happier than being on a crowded dance floor getting busy to some great music!

This past weekend we celebrated Mardi Gras on Saturday in Rehoboth and the whole city was jumpin’! Everywhere we went there were drink specials, great music, and beads, beads and more beads. The Cajun blues band at The Pond was incredible and the place was packed. From there, we sashayed over to the Mardi Gras dance in the brand new Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth building. On Sunday, the dancing resumed at Rigby’s (which now hosts a regular T- Dance every week starting at 3 p.m., featuring our very own, Viki Dee.) If this keeps up, I’ll have to call in sick every Monday.

Just a few weeks until CAMP Rehoboth’s Women’s FEST which will sell out very soon! The lineup of entertainment, activities, dances, and seminars is amazing, and there is nothing like seeing 3,000 women strolling around our little beach town. Oh yeah! Stop reading and get your tickets now!

On Baltimore Avenue, Miss Pixie’s by the Sea is now open in the former Josephine’s Daughter space, and the former Boxwood (in the CAMP Rehoboth Courtyard) will now be

r Squared Home and Design featuring furniture, home accents, and interior design services.

The Brazilian restaurant opening in the Cloud 9 space will be called Lula Brazil, and the owner plans to continue the dance vibe with a Latin twist. Closer to the Boardwalk, the former Tiger Lili space will be a Schell Brothers showcase store.

Venturing out to Route 1, The Rehoboth Foodie reports that Michy’s Kitchen Table will open in the former Charcoal Grill space. Michy’s will feature casual fine-dining with a hint of the Caribbean and south Florida. Under Armour will double their size, taking over the former Charlotte Russe space. In the Giant Foods shopping center, the space between Buffalo Wild Wings and Papa Johns will become a nail salon. In Tenley Court, near the Lewes WaWa, the American Veterans Thrift Store is now open. Further north, just past Surf Bagel, Salvaged Recycled and Repurposed Furniture has combined with Mother Love and will have 2,000 sf of additional retail space. Salvaged rehabs antique and vintage furniture and has some of the most charming, well-priced pieces in the area.

Sunday, March 9 at 11 a.m. is the 2nd Annual Lucky Leprechaun 5K in downtown Milton, followed by the 7th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 2 p.m.

CAMP Rehoboth is sponsoring a bus trip to NYC on Saturday, March 29. Seats—just $45—are almost filled. Call 302-227-5620 to check on availability.

Soulmates Seminar, an educational and social event for single lesbians, will be held April 5-6 at the Metropolitan Community Church in Rehoboth Beach. The two-day seminar will provide cutting-edge information, opportunities for discussion, and even a fun version of speed dating. Dr. Claudia Contessini of LifeMasteryforLesbians.com, is hosting the event, which is designed to help lesbians find happy, healthy, and lasting relationships. Register at LifeMasteryforLesbians.com/ events.

Hope to see you on the dance floor!
