MCC Rehoboth Celerates Installation of New Pastor |
Pastor Tom Bohache and the Rev. Arlene Ackerman. On Saturday, September 26, the members and friends of the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth gathered to install their new pastor, the Rev. Thomas Bohache. The young church, meeting at the Ocean Wave Lodge on Glade Road, was filled to capacity and the crowd included many visiting MCC clergy. The service was a wonderful celebration for both the church and its new pastor. The principal speaker, Rev. Arlene Ackerman, the Mid-Atlantic coordinator of UFMCC, offered a message that challenged both church and pastor to rise to the needs of their community. She spoke movingly about using the trials of the past to prepare a new vision for the future. In the October issue of the Rehoboth MCC newsletter, Rev. Tom reviews the history of MCC and then reminds his readers of the message carried by the churchs founder, Rev. Troy Perry. That message is a simple one, "That Almighty God loves ALL people, no matter WHO they are; God has a passionate longing to be in relationship with ALL people; and God NEVER forsakes us, no matter where our individual journeys might take us." The people of MCC are rejoicing in the fact that Rev. Toms journey has brought him to the Rehoboth area. He goes on to say in his newsletter article that, "the Metropolitan Community Church of Rehoboth needs to stop being such a well-kept secret! Closets are for clothes," he says, "and secrets are for dysfunctional families." To the congregation gathered to celebrate his installation, it was obvious that Rev. Bohache is here to become a part of the family of Rehoboth. |
