Rainbow Chorale of Delaware Presents Spring Concerts |
The Rainbow Chorale of Delaware (RCD) will perform a series of musical concerts this spring titled Such Company at the First and Central Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, DE.
Performances will be held on Saturday May 18, 2002 at 8:00 p.m. and May 19, 2002 at 4:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following the evening performance. A third concert will be held at Epworth Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE on June 2, 2002 at 4:00 pm. Ticket price is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors/students and $5.00 for children 12 and under. Concert tickets are available at the door, or call 1-888-512-5093. Tickets will also be available for sale at CAMP Rehoboth (Baltimore Ave.), The Pelican Loft (Baltimore Ave.), OutGear (Rehoboth Ave.) and The Beacon (Midway Plaza) The concert will include musical arrangements from Jean Sibelius, John Clements, Brian May, Ricky Ian Gordon, Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, Freddie Mercury and others. All performances will be conducted by Elliott Jones, Artistic Director and accompanied on piano by Michael Helman. Founded in 1999 the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware is a non-profit community chorus that offers an antidote to the pain of homophobia by providing a sense of belonging that comes from working together toward the common goal of musical excellence. The Rainbow Chorale is a culturally mixed chorus that supports other organizations of our community through benefit performances and special events. The Rainbow Chorale of Delaware has consistently sung to sold out performances. Other performances include the Grand Opera House, Wilmington, Delaware for a benefit of the House of Joseph II, the Tony Awards fundraiser sponsored by AIDS Delaware, the Cabaret held at Opera Delaware Studios a fundraiser for the GALA festival in Cincinnat, Ohio and a luncheon held in honor of the newly elected Governor of Delaware, Ruth Ann Minner. The Rainbow Chorale of Delaware is a member of GALA Choruses, the international association of the lesbian and gay choral movement. Founded in 1918 GALA Choruses represents 190 choruses, their 10,000 singers and 750,000 patrons in Australia, Europe, South America, and North America. The Rainbow Chorale of Delaware will travel to Cincinnati in July 2002 to participate in GALA's regional festival, which includes 40 choruses representing the Eastern United States. |
