CAMP Rehoboth Women's Project - Fun Times |
by Maggie Shaw |
"It's summertime and the living is easy...the Women's Project is a jumpin' and the temperature is high." This could be our new theme song for this season! There is a lot to do so we need all of you women who expressed an interest in volunteering to give up just a little bit of your beach time and become involved with us as we plan the following events: The CAMP Rehoboth Women's Project and The Mautner Project Meet At The BeachOn Saturday, August 2 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the CAMP office and courtyard. Join us for one of the most embracing social events of the summer as The Mautner Project's Executive Director, Kathleen DeBold, and Development Director, Meghan Duffy, tell us about the project's mission, its recent accomplishments and upcoming events as our national lesbian health organization. It will be a dynamic and fun time after a day at the beach. Hors d'oeuvres, wine and beverages will be served along with some soothing tunes. Donations will be accepted. Don't miss it! The CAMP Rehoboth Women's Project and the Rehoboth Beach Film Society present No Secret Anymore: The Times of Del Martin and Phyllis LyonOn Friday, August 22. Time and location will be announced shortly. Seating may be limited. This film documentary was produced by Woman Vision and Moonforce Media and directed by Joan E. Biren (JEB) who will be joining us for that evening. For you fans out there, Margie Adam, who appeared here in concert for the Women's Conference in 2002, was part of this effort. No Secrets Anymore shows Del and Phyllis creating coalitions that took on the prevailing belief that lesbians were illegal, immoral and sick. Phyllis and Del did the groundbreaking work on lesbian mothers, sex education, family violence and more. Del and Phyllis were able to advance the rights of women, lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This film documentary continues to win many awards so be sure and mark this event on your calendar. The CAMP Rehoboth Women's Project presents Emerging Women ArtistsIn September or early October at the CAMP office and courtyard. Date and time to be announced. This art show will be the opportunity for women artists to show their works and support the philanthropic activities of the Women's Project. This event promises to be colorful and fun so tap your creative energies and get involved. Don't forget...the Women's Project Golf League tees off at 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Marsh Island Golf Club in Lewes. Join them for a great social time and a chance to improve your game or even to learn the game of golf. Our Mautner Project friends are holding their annual gala at the Hilton Washington in Washington, DC on Saturday, September 20, 2003. This year's emcee is Suzanne Westenhoefer who appeared here in April for our third annual Women's Conference weekend. If you can make tracks to DC, don't miss this lively event. Call Andrea Andrus at the CAMP office at 302-227-5620 or e-mail her at andrea@camprehoboth.com if you want to be involved. |
