Marjorie (Scudder) Allen, age 75, of Frankford, Delaware, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born September 22, 1932 in Washington, DC, daughter of the late Howard E. and Helen M. (McLeish) Scudder.
Mrs. Allen had worked as a secretary for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in Prince Georges County, MD for 15 years before retiring in 1991. While living in Maryland, Mrs. Allen was an auxiliary member of American Legion Post #316 in Greenbelt, MD; she enjoyed playing the slots, casino nights and bingo. She was also a professional singer in Washington, DC. Mrs. Allen and her husband of 25 years, Ronald E. Allen, relocated to the beach five years ago. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her son, George Scott Work (1991). She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Elizabeth (Beth) Perko and her husband Ed of Montville, OH and Karen Gustafson and her partner Deb Qualey of Rehoboth Beach, DE; two step-daughters, Terri Carr of Helena, AR and Tammy Nash of Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held August 14, at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium in Lewes, Delaware. Ms. Beth Cohen officiated. The family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. |
