LETTERS From CAMP Rehoboth |
Stepping OUT |

Talk about a shopping spree... my friend Zoe Vette came to visit for a few days and just about turned Rehoboth inside out. She arrived from Washington, DC on Friday, and came right over to the CAMP Courtyard to find me. I told her to walk around town for a bit while I finished my ad layouts. She returned about 2 hours later and said she was ready to celebrate "loving life" after her visit to Something Special on Baltimore Ave. She not only purchased the sculpture Touchstone, a limited edition by artist Michael Wilkinson, she also purchased one of the popular Gemstone Fountains that owner John Sansone cant seem to keep in stock. Now she was ready for a Plumb Loco Margarita, some Nachos, and a little bit of music. We ran into Rick Sabia & Todd Ingue of Insight, who were enjoying their Fajitas & Burgers. We kicked back and socialized for a bit then went across the street to the Double Dippers where we split a Hot Fudge Brownie Sundae and a Tropical Fruit Smoothie. Ready to burst, we decided to call it a night. Saturday, while I worked, Zoe decided to go for a massage at the Body Shop Fitness and do a little more shopping. When she arrived back at the courtyard, she had that grin going on again. I knew it meant she was ready to celebrate some more purchases. Sure enough, she bought 6 Swedish Crystal Martini Glasses from Scandinavian Occasion and an Original Oil Painting by artist Michael Gerry at Nassau Gallery. So it was off to the Purple Parrots Birdcage for their Caribbean Tea Dance, then to the Bachelor Auction at the Blue Moon, a kickoff to the LOVE 99 benefit. After the auction, which raised $10,100, we went to The Beach House for appetizers, cocktails, and a couple of sandwiches from their lite fare menu. The popular duo, Jeanne & Terry, were our bartenders. The crab dip was awesome and the Martinis were cosmic. The place started to fill with familiar faces like Barry Becker, director of the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival , Konrad Noebel and Kathleen Donelan, Rehoboth Holistic Center, Rebecca James, and Lori Kline of Loris Cafe. It was getting late and the evening was coming to end but we werent, so we decided to head to the Renegade (the club that never sleeps) and we danced til dawn to the sounds of DJ Jeff Harrison. Sunday, we had dinner at the Purple Parrot, where we saw Joe Mack of the Double Dippers having dinner with his partner Jim, who was celebrating his 27th birthday. The charming Kimmer was behind the bar mixing tropical cocktails for a full house which included Stephanie, the Frogg Ponds favorite bartender. With those two lovely ladies in one room, no wonder there wasnt an available seat in the house. With all the upcoming events, Zoe decided to come back again to finish her excursion in Rehoboth. The Beach House will be jammin 3 nights in a row, starting with a Divas of Delaware Dance Party on Friday, June 25, with performances by Dominique Taylor and Leighanne Richards. Saturday, June 26, features a SPLASH Party, with DJ, giveaways, and specials. Plus, every Sunday is Locals Night featuring Stoli Martini Madness. Celsius will have a PRIDE Brunch on Sunday, June 27, with a Pre Fixe menu of only $12. A portion of the proceeds from brunch will be donated to the Michael Brossette Fund of the Delaware HIV Consortium. Cloud 9 will host the first SAFE-TEA Dance on Sunday, June 20, 5-8 p.m. with DJ Keana. Its one of three tea dances planned for the summer as part of CAMP Rehoboths CAMPsafe AIDS education program. Finally, get your pets ready for the Second Annual "Best Pet at the Beach" Contest, sponsored by Atlantic Color Lab and Critter Beach. You can start submitting photos July 1. So get ready, this is only the beginning of a great summer... see you around town. Kimmer and Stephanie Dalee. Zoe Vette and John Sansone.
