2016! It’s The Year of the Woman!
From candidates to campaign workers to voters, 2016 is shaping up as the year of the woman. To make the most of our voices, CAMP Rehoboth has three non-partisan events planned to energize voters, understand women in leadership and learn from the pros the importance of women in elected office.
Leading the way will be the keynote speaker for the 2016 Women’s FEST–Eleanor Smeal, founder and President of the Feminist Majority Foundation. She’ll be speaking on Saturday morning, April 9 at the Atlantic Sands from 10-11 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Another opportunity to listen and learn will be held Friday afternoon 3-4:30, also at the Atlantic Sands. Laura Liswood, Secretary General of the Council on Women World Leaders, will get attendees riled up and ready to lead! Tickets to this event are $15 (FEST Pass holders free) at camprehoboth.com.
Wrapping up the FEST will be an awesome event as the League of Women Voters and CAMP Rehoboth invite you to a totally non-partisan discussion of the importance of women in elected office.
The Sunday, April 10 event, taking place from 2-4 p.m. at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center is free and open to the public. Taking part in the discussion will be a remarkable panel of women.
The panel includes The Honorable Pamela J. White, trial judge on the Circuit Court for Baltimore City and longtime advocate for identifying and overcoming gender bias in Maryland’s judicial system.
Councilwoman Louisa Watrel, former member of the Council for Bridgewater Township, New Jersey and past President, League of Women Voters, New Jersey.
Marie Mayor, two time candidate for the Delaware House of Representatives, educator, co-owner of the Lavender Fields Farm at Warrington Manor, Milton, Delaware, and current Vice Chairperson of the League of Women Voters of Sussex County.
Councilwoman Donna M. Dolce, former Municipal Councilwoman and Council President of the Fanwood City Council, New Jersey, former CEO of a local NJ Girl Scout Council, with stints at the National YWCA of the USA, the United Way of Essex and West Hudson County and the Red Cross of Union County.
The event will be moderated by Leslie W. Ledogar, Esq., a retired environmental attorney, Certified Mediator, community activist and active member of the League of Women Voters Sussex County.
