"The PRIDE fundraiser is a little bit different from the other AIDS fundraisers in the area," explains Wayne Hodge, Manager of the Renegade. "It targets a different audience than some of the other fundraisers. This event is a chance for local residents and the business community to support the fight against AIDS. Of course, summer visitors are more than welcome to attend, too!"
The event features a cocktail party, accompanied by a buffet catered by the areas best-known restaurants. The evenings silent auction will climax with a live auction, boasting wonderful items donated by area merchants. Each year PRIDE has a different theme, and the Renegade is transformed to reflect it. This years theme is "Key West Fantasy Fest". Again this year, Richard Verzier will be using his talents to create a fantasy world within the dance floor walls of the Renegade Club.
Sponsors are being sought for the event. Sponsorships are available for $75.00, which includes two tickets to the event, as well as being listed in the Sponsors Program and other media coverage. "Its not just about seeing your name in print," explains Hodge. "It is supporting two fine organizations that are making a difference in the lives of persons with HIV infection or AIDS."
Proceeds from PRIDE97 benefit the Sussex County AIDS Committee (SCAC) and the John Isennock Memorial (JIM) Fund. SCAC, headed by Executive Director Glen Pruitt, provides many services to persons infected by HIV/AIDS, including financial assistance, transportation, housing and community resources. The JIM Fund, administered by Audra Rivers, provides also provides financial assistance.
For more information about sponsorships, or donating items for the auctions, contact SCAC at (302) 644-1090.
