Cinderella Is A Man Author at Lambda Rising |
A gay man's quest for identity through decades of alcohol, abuse and debauchery set against a tapestry of international celebrities in glamorous locales is related with unflinching candor by Eric Gustafson in his recently published CINDERELLA IS A MAN, A Picaresque Passage to Serenity.
This is a story full of humor, drama and, most of all, hope. In search of himself, this handsome young man, flowering on the international scene despite the obscurity of his birthplace, hid behind substance abuse while putting on the facade of self-confidence. In the milieu of Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Jackie Kennedy, Georgia O'Keefe, Andy Warhol, Leonard Bernstein and European royalty including a ruling king, and even Pope John XXIII, his life spiraled into a nightmare out of control. Following Elizabeth Taylor's admonition, "Get your ass over to Betty Ford's," Gustafson experienced a dramatic change in the course of events. The healing powers of the arts together with a growing spiritual life led to redemption through sobriety and faith. This sharing of a glittering life should be an encouragement for others. Eric Gustafson is planning to read and sign copies of his book at Lambda Rising, Rehoboth Beach, on Saturday, August 28th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. |
