The Vagina Monologues Joins Women’s FEST Line-Up!
The buzz has begun and tickets are on sale for a performance of the The Vagina Monologues, coming back to Rehoboth on Saturday, April 11 at 8:30 p.m. at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.
The Vagina Monologues grew out of intimate interviews author Eve Ensler had with more than three hundred women ages six to seventy-six. The results are stunning, with stories ranging from an older woman’s memory of her first experience with her sexuality to an account by a Bosnian refugee to a hilarious discussion—well, you all just have to come see! The monologues are by turns inspiring, hilarious, moving and thought-provoking.
Local favorite Fay Jacobs will direct the production starring veterans of the stage Jane Bruns, Stacey Fearheiley and Eloise Ullman. All three actresses performed the Eve Ensler award winning play in 2008 here in Rehoboth to a sold out crowd. Director Jacobs has over 30 years of professional and local theatre experience in the Washington D.C. area. Fay formed her own production company in 1997 to bring musical revues and light entertainment to Rehoboth Beach and Lewes.
Bruns is a theatre master with a resume that spans musical comedy to Shakespeare, plus TV and film work. Fearheiley has spent more than 20 years in the DC area performing in The Mousetrap, Steel Magnolias, You Can’t Take it With You, Lend Me a Tenor, The Heidi Chronicles, and many more. Ullman has enjoyed performing a wide variety of roles in musical and non-musical theatre in the Washington DC area since 1969. She has had lead roles in most of the classic Broadway musicals, including teaming with director Jacobs as Marian the Librarian in The Music Man, and Maria in The Sound of Music.
“It’s great to see that caliber of a performance in our own Rehoboth Beach,“ said Cape Gazette publisher Dennis Forney, ”…provocative and liberating, the rafters were shaking at times with the riotous laughter.”
