Spring Is Here!
There are soooo many new and exciting things crammed in here this month that I don’t have space to talk about my garden! All locations are Rehoboth Beach, unless otherwise noted.
PERFORMING ARTS
CAMP Rehoboth Chorus (37 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-5620) has finished their regular season, but should you find yourself in need of entertainment for an event, the chorus has a new outreach group consisting of 16-24 voices who would be delighted to perform!
Clear Space Theatre Company (20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-2270) presents Stephen Sondheim’s Company through April 5. The Broadway Legends class presents a concert version of Guys and Dolls, April 15 (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and it’s free! The Little Mermaid, Jr. runs April 17-19, presented by the Spotlight on Young Performers crew—$15. Weekends from May 1-17 (with a special weekday matinee on May 7) is Little Women: The Musical. $15-$30.
Ovation Dinner Theater (302-500-1528) presents a new concept for our area by bringing dinner theatre to you! Catch one of their upcoming shows—Joey and Gina’s Italian Wedding—Saturday, May 9 (6 p.m.) at the Harrington Raceway & Casino, or Saturday, May 16 (6:30 p.m.) at the Dunes Manor Hotel Oceanfront in Ocean City. Their interactive comedies will keep you laughing all night!
Possum Point Players (441 Old Laurel Road in Georgetown; 302-856-4560) opens the romantic comedy Almost, Maine under the direction of Linda Killion and featuring an all-star cast. The show runs April 17-26.
Premier Centre for the Arts at Milton Theater (110 Union Street in Milton; 302-684-3038) has something for everyone—Movies, comedy, cabarets, drag shows!—not to mention great classes for kids from dance to voice to theater. Here’s a sampling: The Winstons Motown Show—Friday, April 3. Blues on the Broadkill—Sunday, April 12. Assisted Living: The Musical (no, I’m not kidding!)—Friday, April 17. Speakeasy—Saturday, April 18. Comedy Night—Friday, April 24.
Rehoboth Beach Film Society (107 Truitt Avenue, 302-645-9095) Met Opera, Live in HD (partnership with the Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation): Cavalleria Rusticana and Pagliacci—Saturday, April 25 (12:30 p.m.) at Cape Henlopen High School Theater. $15-$25. Visit their website for information/reservations. Read-A-Movie Film Series—The Duellists—based on a short story by Joseph Conrad— Wednesday, April 8 (4 p.m.) at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library. Admission is free.
Second Street Players (2 South Walnut Street in Milford; 302-422-0220) brings Monty Python’s Spamalot to their stage, April 24-May 3. One of the funniest shows ever written, provided you enjoy Monty Python! (I do!)

*Amandeline Gallery (Galleries at 20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-226-0330) features the work of Elaine Hahn, Anne Packard, Anatoly Turov, Marie Claude-Boucher, Sergey Cherep and Amanda Ponko.
*Anita Peghini-Räber Gallery (49 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-2888) brings Luz. H. Arkal of Art Miami to the beach with Planetary Connections. Catch-a-Sketch of you or with partner by Anita is a fun-filled encounter, which leaves you with a colorful naturalistic/expressionistic keepsake, by appointment. Saturdays/Sundays Young at Art (9-10:15 a.m.) children (six-eight years old) join Anita on a tour of the changing exhibits of important contemporary, global artists, then create their own artwork. Donations help cover the cost of material. Weekly Creative Fusion Dance every Thursday (7-8 p.m.) with Viviana. Monthly Milonga, Tango de Arte (last Saturday of the month—9 p.m.–1 a.m.—with a free introduction by Adam from Tango Lewes (7-8 p.m.).
Art for a Purpose (135 Second Street, second floor, in Lewes; 302-245-4528) is a one-of-a-kind art gallery which assists tax-exempt organizations by turning donated art into cash for their unrestricted use.

CAMP Rehoboth Community Center (37 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-5620) features Women’s Photography and Art Show— Free Event at CAMP Rehoboth, Friday, April 10 from 3-5 p.m.
*Delaware Art Gallery (239 Rehoboth Avenue; or kevinfleming.com) presents new and classic favorite Delaware photographs by Kevin Fleming, photography by Jay Fleming, Tony Pratt and Pamela Bieler and hand-blown glass by Deb Appleby. Visit their new gallery in Lewes!
*Gallery 50 and G-50 Fine Art Photography (50 A-B Wilmington Avenue; 302- 227-2050) is exhibiting new abstract works from Beth Cartland and has extended the iPhoneographie exhibit by Bill Meehan—incredible small works of local scenes taken with an iPhone. *Paintiques and The Galleries at 20 Baltimore (20 Baltimore Avenue; 302-258-4203) has moved...things around! Lots of changes at the gallery, with fresh new artwork. Thursday (11 a.m.-5 p.m.), Friday/Saturday (noon-8 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m.).
Peninsula Gallery (520 E. Savannah Rd in Lewes; 302-645-0551) is one of the largest fine arts galleries in Delaware, with 3,000 square feet of exhibition and framing space. Always worth a visit!
*Philip Morton Gallery (47 Baltimore Avenue; 302-727-0905) is exhibiting new works by Josh Lowe, Gary Fisher, Tara Funk Grim, Judith Judy, Deborah Burk and John Whitney. ART21: Fiction (April 17)—film screening at the Rehoboth Beach Library (Free!)— Register at rehobothlibrary.org. Just Add a Little Water—the Magical Realm of Watercolor Painting—works by the Delaware Watercolor Society through May 3. Opening April 10 (at the new RAL Art Studios on Route 9) Boundaries: works by the Young Photographers Alliance—complete with a ribbon cutting and opening reception (5-7 p.m.).
Rehoboth Beach Museum (511 Rehoboth Avenue at the Canal, 302-227-7310) currently features an exhibit of items related to the founding of the CAMP Rehoboth community center to celebrate our 25th year of creating a more positive Rehoboth. Opening Memorial Day weekend is Women of Rehoboth Beach celebrating the great ladies of Rehoboth’s past with tributes to notables including Ethel P.B. Leach, Myrtle Belle Wingate, and Anyda Marchant and Muriel Crawford of the Naiad Press. Visit their website for hours and further information. Admission to the museum is by donation.
*Ward Ellinger Gallery (CAMP Rehoboth Courtyard, 39 Baltimore Avenue; 302-227-2710) features Abstract Expressionism in different mediums by Ward Ellinger and Sondra N. Arkin. Come in and see the ever-popular Spiritiles (molten glass on copper) by Houston Llew, beautiful contemporary blown glass menorahs by Shardz Glass, recycled farm equipment transformed into contemporary side tables, hand blown glass, pottery, and metal works by various American artists.
*WibergArt and Studio 3 (20 Baltimore Avenue at the Celebration Mall; 302-226-0206 or 302-245-3615) features renowned marine artist, Jack Wiberg, and his original oils of sailing vessels and ships, as well as the work of Dolores Andrew, Joyce Blakeslee, Rose Doster, Wendy Kesler, Melissa McLean and LaVerne McIntyre.
